MLB Picks and Winning Favorites – August 25th

Written by on August 24, 2017

As another week in the baseball draws to a close, the race for playoff spots and MLB picks remains as tight as ever. The pressure is mounting, as time is now quickly running out on the regular season making the MLB betting odds for each match change constantly everyday. Hence, the Boston Red Sox look like a good bet to win the AL East, but the Orioles are going to have a say in stopping that. The Arizona Diamondbacks are in a good spot in the NL Wild Card, but need to keep the wins coming against a less than impressive San Francisco Giants team. The Colorado Rockies are also in the WC, and will look to maintain their solid standing when they take a trip to Atlanta to face the Braves.

MLB Picks and Winning Favorites – August 25th

Baltimore Orioles (73-53) Vs Boston Red Sox (62-65)

When: Friday, August 25 at 7:10 PM EST Where: Fenway Park, Boston TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Jeremy Hellickson Vs Rick Porcello Analysis: Despite the fact that they are well and truly out of the division race, the Orioles still have designs on a Wild Card spot, although they are stuck behind a bunch of teams, and are 3.5 games out. At just 4-6 in their last 10, they are not doing enough to make a move, although they did just take 2 of 3 from Oakland. At 24-39, the Orioles road record leaves a lot to be desired. It will be Jeremy Hellickson (7-7, 5.00 ERA) on the mound for the Orioles. The Red Sox are playing consistent baseball right now, and that has allowed them to maintain a 4.5 game lead atop the division. They are a solid 7-3 in their last 10 games, and have put together a stellar 40-22 record at home this season. The Orioles have proven to be a tough opponent for Boston this season, as they are 6-6 in their previous meetings. Rick Porcello (8-14, 4.48 ERA) will be looking for his 5th straight win in this one. MLB Picks: Baltimore Orioles 3 Boston Red Sox 5

Baseball Picks and Winning Predictions – August 24th

San Francisco Giants (52-77) Vs Arizona Diamondbacks (69-58)

When: Friday, August 25 at 9:40 PM EST Where: Chase Field, Phoenix TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Ty Blach Vs Zack Greinke Analysis: The San Francisco Giants have been a huge disappointment this season, but teams in the playoff hunt had better take them seriously, as they just hurt the Brewers chances by taking 2 of 3 from them. You can’t really like the Giants chances on the road, where they are just 21-42, although they have played tough against Arizona this season, going 5-5 in their previous meetings. Ty Blach (8-9, 4.59 ERA) will start. The San Francisco Giants have been a huge MLB picks disappointment this season. The Diamondbacks are still in the first Wild Card spot, but things are starting to tighten up, with their lead over the pack now at just 3.5 games. Arizona have been struggling, and are just 4-6 in their last 10 games. The good news is that they are at home for this series, where they have posted a 39-23 record thus far. The D-Backs will hand the ball to Zack Greinke (14-6, 3.16 ERA) for this one. Pick: San Francisco Giants 1 Arizona Diamondbacks 4

Colorado Rockies (68-58) Vs Atlanta Braves (56-69)

When: Friday, August 25 at 7:35 PM EST Where: SunTrust Park, Atlanta TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Chad Bettis Vs Julio Teheran Analysis: In the first half of the season, there was a real battle going on in the NL West, with the Rockies in the thick of it. The Dodgers have since opened up a massive lead, and now Colorado are looking to hang on to one of the WC spots. They come into this series on a 4-game losing skid, and have only won 3 of their last 10. They are also 3 games under .500 on the road. The Rockies will send Chad Bettis (0-0, 1.93 ERA) to the mound for this one. Wins have been tough to come by for the Braves in recent weeks, and they are routinely now in games that turn into shootouts, with 8 of their last 13 games going OVER. The Braves are not quite yet at home in their new ball park, as they are 8 games under .500 there this season. They always have a shot to win, though, when they send Julio Teheran (7-11, 5.02 ERA) to the mound. MLB Picks:  Colorado Rockies 7 Atlanta Braves 4
