Top MLB Betting Picks for Last Weeks of the 2018 Regular Season

Written by on August 15, 2018

We’re towards the final few weeks of the 2018 pro-baseball regular season. Let’s make some MLB Betting predictions based on the current division races and odds to win the crown.

Top MLB Betting Picks for Last Weeks of the 2018 Regular Season

AL East

Top 3

  • Boston Red Sox 86-35
  • New York Yankees 75-44
  • Tampa Bay Rays 60-59
Boston has a nice 10 game lead over the New York Yankees. The lead has been 10 games for what feels like a month. Will the Yankees make a move in the final few weeks of the regular season? There’s a good chance that New York does. The Red Sox have been playing at such a high-level that they should start losing some games from now until the end of the season. It happens to teams every year. Beware betting Boston in games where they’re heavy, heavy favorites because it’s a bigger investment on the moneyline.

AL Central

Top 3

  • Cleveland Indians 68-51
  • Minnesota Twins 55-63
  • Detroit Tigers 50-70
Cleveland’s 12.5 games lead over the Minnesota Twins should be more than enough to secure the AL Central Division title. Minnesota might eat into that lead, though. That means the Twins could be a good moneyline bet in the final few weeks of the regular season while the Tribe might not.

AL West

Top 3

  • Houston Astros 73-47
  • Oakland Athletics 72-48
  • Seattle Mariners 69-52
The Houston Astros are a game ahead of the Oakland Athletics. The A’s have made a huge push to just get within 5 games of the Astros. Now that they’re within a game, can they sustain it? As of August 14, Oakland’s won 4 while Houston’s lost 5. That actually doesn’t bode well for the A’s because it’s difficult to see the Astros losing 5 games in a row again in the final weeks of the season. Houston should pull away from Oakland and win the AL West.

NL East

Top 3

  • Atlanta Braves 67-51
  • Philadelphia Phillies 65-53
  • Washington Nationals 60-60
The Atlanta Braves are 2 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Washington Nationals, a World Series preseason favorite, is 8 games behind both those teams. The Nationals won’t win the NL East. The Phillies could, but the guess here is that in the final weeks of the regular season, the Braves win enough games for a comfortable cushion.

NL Central

Top 3

  • Chicago Cubs 68-50
  • Milwaukee Brewers 68-54
  • St. Louis Cardinals 65-55
The Chicago Cubs lead by 2 games over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals are right there only 4 games out. The NL Central is the toughest division to predict.  Betting wise, all 3 teams are capable of beating any squad in MLB on any given day. The Cubs are MLB Betting favorites to win the National League Central. Sports bettors should definitely pay attention when the Cubs, Cardinals, or Brewers are underdogs because that’s when the payouts are greatest on the moneyline.

NL West

  • Arizona Cardinals 66-55
  • Colorado Rockies 64-55
  • Los Angeles Dodgers 64-57
The Arizona Diamondbacks lead the Colorado Rockies by a game. The L.A. Dodgers are 2 games back. The Dodgers have lost 5 games. That means they should bounce back with some wins. The key for LAD will be if AZ or Colorado gets onto a losing streak. It’s difficult to predict the D’Backs and Rockies will do that. Arizona’s been the most consistent team. The expectation is that they win the most games on the moneyline in the final few weeks of the MLB Regular Season.
