MLB Picks and Winning Predictions – August 24th

Written by on August 23, 2017

If truth be told, the best races in the MLB picks right now are the Wild Cards. For the most part, the divisions look locked up, which causes the fight to go on now for a few back-door playoff spots, meaning there are several games for this week that have playoff implications, so every baseball fan looking to bet on MLB should mark them in their playing list. Moreover, the LA Angels are right back in the AL race, and will try to keep pace when they welcome in the Texas Rangers. The Washington Nationals have an unassailable division lead, and should keep things rolling against the equally strong Houston Astros. The St. Louis Cardinals are trying to close the gap in the NL Wild Card race, and should be able to do that against the hapless San Diego Padres.

A Closer Look at the MLB Picks and Winning Predictions – August 24th

Texas Rangers (62-63) Vs LA Angels (65-61)

When: Thursday, August 24 at 10:07 PM EST Where: Angel Field, Anaheim TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Martin Perez Vs Troy Scribner GAMETIME WEATHER Clear 21°C/69°F Humidity 84% Precipitation % 4% Cloud Cover 9% Wind 4 mph S Stadium Type Open Analysis: The Texas Rangers have been very quietly working their way back into Wild Card contention, and are now just 3 games out of the final spot. The Angels are one of the teams ahead of them right now, so a win in this series could very much help their cause. The meetings between these two this season have been close, with Texas holding a 6-5 edge. The Rangers will send Martin Perez (8-10, 5.36 ERA) to the mound in search of his 4th straight win. The Angels have been very good of late, and are now just a half game out of the final Wild Card spot. Pat of their success has been their solid play at home, where they are now 34-27. Their recent games have been of the low-scoring variety, with just 3 of their last 10 outings going OVER. The Angels are now a solid 7-3 in their last 10 and a legitimate playoff threat. They will send Troy Scribner (2-0, 3.46 ERA) to the mound. MLB Picks: Texas Rangers 3 LA Angels 4

MLB Betting Picks and Winning Favorites – August 23th

Washington Nationals (75-48) Vs Houston Astros (76-49)

When: Thursday, August 24 at 8:10 PM EST Where: Minute Maid Park, Houston TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Stephen Strasburg Vs Dallas Keuchel GAMETIME WEATHER Overcast 30°C/86°F Humidity 64% Precipitation % 20% Cloud Cover 80% Wind 9 mph E Stadium Type Retractable Analysis: The Washington Nationals have stayed consistently good all season long, and it’s hard to remember a time when they did not hold a double-digit lead atop the NL East. They are 7-3 in their last 10 games, and took the opening game of this series with a 4-3 win over Houston. Their road record is now an incredibly impressive 40-23. It will be Stephen Strasburg (10-4, 3.24 ERA) who will get the start for the Nats. MLB Picks: The Astros are still very comfortable on top of their division despite going just 5-5 in their last 10 games. The second half has not been as good to the Houston Astros as the first half was, causing many too question why they stood pat at the trade deadline. The Astros are still very comfortable on top of their division despite going just 5-5 in their last 10 games. They have been a great UNDER pick recently, with 11 of their last 13 games hitting that mark. Houston will send Dallas Keuchel (11-2, 2.58 ERA) to the mound. MLB Picks: Washington Nationals 2 Houston Astros 4

San Diego Padres (60-66) Vs St. Louis Cardinals (63-62)

When: Thursday, August 24 at 7:15 PM EST Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Luis Perdomo Vs Carlos Martinez GAMETIME WEATHER Clear 26°C/79°F Humidity 44% Precipitation % 0% Cloud Cover 12% Wind 7 mph ENE Stadium Type Open Analysis: The San Diego Padres may be dead and buried this season, but they look as though they are up for playing the role of the spoiler. They have won 5 of their last 8, and pounded the Cardinals 12-4 in the opening game of this series. That win was all the more surprising when you consider that San Diego are just 23-39 on the road this season. They will hand the ball to Luis Perdomo (6-8, 4.93 ERA) for this Thursday night tilt. After playing some great ball to get back into the playoff picture, the Cardinals have gone winless in their last 3, essentially undoing some of their good work. They are now 4.5 games back in the division race, and are 5 back in the WC. These are the types of series that the Cardinals need to win if they have any shot at making it into the postseason. It will be Carlos Martinez (10-9, 3.57 ERA) who will get the ball in this one. MLB Picks:  San Diego Padres 2 St. Louis Cardinals 6
