LA Dodgers (87-69) at Arizona Diamondbacks (79-77)
Heading into their series opener on Monday night, the Dodgers have won eight of their last 10 games and currently are 1.5 games up on Colorado in the race for first place in the NL West. Arizona is struggling mightily at the worst time possible, having gone 2-8 over its last 10 games. This series is offering MLB bettors everywhere an absolute ton of value simply because these teams are heading in polar opposite directions and the Dodgers are looking to mash the pedal to the metal to pull off their sixth straight division title. Staff ace lefty Clayton Kershaw gets the ball in the opener on Monday night, but really, I’m thinking a sweep might be in order for the D-Backs in this series despite the fact that they’re at home. L.A. is ranked a stellar second in team ERA (3.39) and they’ve gone a blistering 20-8 in their last 28 games, not to mention their huge edge in quality pitching will be the difference in this series. L.A. has won three straight in this divisional rivalry by recording a trio of identical 3-2 wins to close out August and open September.Pick: L.A. for the Sweep
Houston Astros (98-57) at Toronto Bluejays (71-85)
The Astros have won three straight heading into the new week and seven of their last 10 games overall to stay 4.5 games in front of second place Oakland in the AL West. Toronto has gone 6-4 over their last 10 games heading into their series opener against Houston on Monday night. This series is also offering a ton of value, seeing as how the defending World Series champion Astros are elite at everything and Toronto is mediocre offensively and awful defensively.
