Predictions On How To Bet Red Sox Vs Yankees 2017 MLB Series

Written by on June 5, 2017

When you have two teams who hate each as much as the Yankees and Red Sox do going head to head, you learn to expect the unexpected. These types of match-up are often the ones where trends and the form book goes out the window. That does not mean that you should ignore the numbers completely when betting on these types of games, though, and it is the current stats that I am going to use to try and come up with some betting predictions. Boston and New York will be playing a 3-game series that will start on Tuesday night, and I am going to look at the moneyline, the spread, and the total for the series. The baseball betting odds for the upcoming games have not yet been released, so it goes without saying that you should check those out before getting your bets on.

Analyzing The Predictions On How To Bet Red Sox Vs Yankees 2017 MLB Series

Red Sox Vs Yankees Moneyline

Both teams are coming in with winning records, with the Yankees a little better overall. New York are 32-22 on the season, whereas the Red Sox are 31-25, enough to give the Yankees a 2-game lead stop the division. In this series, it’s probably more important that we look at what each team is doing in regards their home and away records. The Yankees, who will be playing host this week, are a solid 17-8 at home, which makes them a tough proposition for any opponent. The Red Sox are a game below .500 (14-15) on the road, which does not bode particularly well for them. The edge here must go to the Yankees, although I don’t think a sweep is in the cards, so try to pick at least one game where the Red Sox might have the pitching advantage. Red Sox Vs Yankees Spread

Red Sox Vs Yankees Spread

Since the Yankees are leading the division and are playing at home, we can probably assume that they are going to be the favorites in this series. New York are 34-20 ATS this season, including a 14-11 record at home. When playing as the favorite, they are 18-18 ATS. The Red Sox are 29-27 ATS overall, including being 15-14 on the road. Boston have shined and been good value as the underdog this season, going 6-3 ATS in those games. This would all seem to point things in the favor of Boston ATS, and as I think these games may be close, that makes sense to me.

Red Sox Vs Yankees Total Runs

These two teams hooked up earlier in the season and only managed to combine for 7 runs through 2 games. While that may send you in the direction of the UNDER, it’s worth remembering that those game came early in the season. It certainly pays to look at the bigger picture for both. The Yankees are 30-24 O/U this season, and are 14-11 at home. The Red Sox are 26-28-2 O/U, but are more inclined to the OVER on the road at 15-13-1. I’d be leaning towards the OVER here, especially since both teams are scoring well of late.
