The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will both be looking to snap their respective three-game losing streaks when they square off in the opener of a four-game set on Thursday. Will the M’s take care of business at home or are the Rangers the better pick to get it done on the road? Let’s get to my expert MLB betting prediction right now.

Why Bet On Texas

The Rangers have lost three straight and four of their last six games overall including a 6-5 loss to Oakland on Wednesday. Monar Mazara homered twice for Texas and Logan Forsythe added another jack, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Rangers fell to 2-7 on the road. The good news for the Rangers is that they won six of seven before their current skid. Unfortunately, their pitching staff has been pounded to the tune of 23 runs in their last three games while allowing four or more runs in seven straight games and allowing their opponents to reach the double-digit mark twice during the stretch.

For this contest, the Rangers have promoted left-hander Taylor Hearn from Triple-A Nashville to make his major league debut. Hearn made four starts at Nashville after being acquired from Pittsburgh last summer while going 1-3 with a 4.05 ERA while striking out 26 in 20 innings.

“He’s got power stuff,” manager Chris Woodward said. “When he’s in the zone his fastball plays well. He throws hard. His secondary stuff, when he throws it with conviction, he’s got elite stuff.”

Why Bet On Seattle

Mariners Host Rangers With Both teams Looking To Snap Losing Skids

The Mariners have lost three straight and seven of their last 10 games overall including a hard-fought 1-0 loss against San Diego in the finale of their two-game Inter-league set on Wednesday.

“The only hiccup was the first-pitch home run that Kinsler hit,” Servais said. “Kinsler has seen him a ton, probably 70, 75 career at-bats against him. Felix did an awesome job. I feel bad we couldn’t extend the game or get him the win today, but we’ll take plenty of outings like that.”Seattle wasted a great performance from veteran lefty and 2010 AL Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez after he gave up just one run on a solo homer in 7.0 innings of work.

“The only hiccup was the first-pitch home run that Kinsler hit,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said. “Kinsler has seen him a ton, probably 70, 75 career at-bats against him. Felix did an awesome job. I feel bad we couldn’t extend the game or get him the win today, but we’ll take plenty of outings like that.”

The Mariners have dropped six in a row at home while getting limited to two runs or less four times during the stretch. For this contest, Seattle will hand the ball to right-hander Marco Gonzales who is coming off his fourth quality start in six outings after limiting the Angels to three runs on eight hits in 7.0 innings of a 5-3 win the last time he took the mound. Gonzales is 3-1 with a 3.25 ERA and 22 strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.

Expert Analysis and Prediction

With Texas turning to an experienced starter that will be making his big league debut, Seattle’s Marco Gonzales has been rock-solid all season long, not to mention the fact that he’s due for a win after getting a pair of no-decisions in his last two starts.

Texas is just 3-10 in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning record, 6-20 in their last 26 road games and 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a left-handed starter. Conversely, Seattle has gone 4-1 in their last 5 home games vs. a left-handed starter, 8-3 in their last 11 games vs. a left-handed starter and 10-4 in their last 14 vs. American League West. I like the M’s and their explosive offense to get it done in this one!
