Seattle At Washington MLB Betting Odds & TV Info

Written by on May 24, 2017

We have a very long way to go before we can start making serious predictions about which teams are going to land on top of their respective divisions. Teams on top right now are going to go into a slide at some point, while the teams doing the chasing will go on runs that will vault them back into their divisional races. This is nothing new, as it’s something that we see every season in the MLB. If I were to pick one surefire division winner right now, it would be in the NL East, where the Washington Nationals look far and away the best team. They are in fact the only team in that division with a record above .500, and you get the feeling that this could end up being the biggest margin of victory by any team across all the different divisions. The Nationals still need to stay focused, though, and they are doing a good job of that. They will close out a home series versus the Seattle Mariners on Thursday afternoon. Why bet on the Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners (20-26) are up against it in a division where the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers are beginning to look as though they are going to pull away from the pack and get into a 2-horse race. The Mariners are certainly not helping their own cause, as they have now lost 3 consecutive games, and have only managed 3 wins in their last 10 outings. The Mariners have some offensive pop in the line-up, with the likes of Nelson Cruz and Jean Segura posting some solid numbers, but they are being let down badly by their pitching staff, which is at or near the bottom of all the major stats. Ariel Miranda (3-2, 4.28 ERA) has been one of the better performers in the pitching staff, and is unbeaten in his last 4 starts (2 wins, 2 no-decisions). Why bet on the Washington Nationals

Why bet on the Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals (27-17) have a very comfortable 6.5-game lead atop the NL East, and when you look at the other 4 teams in that division, you don’t really see one capable of taking a serious run at the Nats. The goal for Washington right now is to just keep winning and let the rest take care of itself. They have gone just 5-5 in their last 10 games, but have still maintained a rather steady lead at the top. If there is a weakness in this team, it may well be in their bullpen. The Nats lead the league in quality starts from their pitching staff, but are way down the rankings in team ERA. Look for them to fix this as the season progresses. Gio Gonzalez (3-1, 2.86 ERA) will start for Washington.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

A decent pitching match-up here, but the problem that the Mariners have is that they never seem to be able to give Ariel Miranda any sort of run support. That will come back and haunt them once again.
