Top MLB Expert Picks Of The Week (Sept. 20th – 22nd)

Written by on September 19, 2016

By the time this week comes to an end, we should have a much clearer idea of what the playoff picture is going to look like in the MLB. A couple of divisions should be clinched over the next few days, and there is a good chance that some Wild Card spot might also be decided. With so much still to play for, there are a lot of good betting opportunities out there waiting for all of us baseball bettors, so without further ado, let’s take a look at what I believe are some of the top baseball picks of the week. Be sure to check back in to get all the updated betting odds for these games, as well s all the others on the schedule.

In Depth Analysis On The Top MLB Expert Picks Of The Week (Sept. 20th – 22nd)

Texas Rangers over LA Angels – Tuesday

A couple of wins should be enough for the Texas Rangers to clinch the West, and those should come against the Angels in the early part of the week. A.J. Griffin has only gone 2-2 in his last 5 starts for Texas, but he only rally pitched one poor game in that lot. He is going against Daniel Wright, who has lost both games since making the move to LA from Cincinnati. I like the Rangers offense to get to Wright from the off, and that should be enough for the win.

New York Mets over Atlanta Braves – Wednesday

The Mets actually have a losing record to the Braves at home this season, but have the edge in the series overall. With the Wild Card firmly in their sights, the Mets will be playing hard, and should have more than enough to handle Atlanta. I particularly like the pitching match-up on Wednesday, and would not be surprised to see the Mets sweep this series, especially given how good they have been at home of late.

Detroit Tigers over Minnesota Twins – Thursday

This game features a pair of pitchers who have, combined, not picked up a win in their las 7 starts. That said, you have to look at the bigger picture in their recent starts, and that clearly gives Justin Verlander the edge over Ervin Santana. The Tigers have gone 4-2 in the last 6 starts by Verlander, while the Twins have gone just 1-5 in their last 6 games with Santana on the mound. It may be a close one, but I like the Tigers to get the win, and to keep their slim Wild Card hopes alive.

Chicago Cubs over St. Louis Cardinals

Not only have the Cubs won their division by a mile, they now have a shot at playing the role of spoiler by keeping the St. Louis Cardinals out of the playoffs. This is a huge series for the Cards, and I think that they might just buckle under the pressure. They can expect no help from the Cubs, as they are still actively chasing 100 wins on the season. Friday night looks to be the toughest test or the Cardinals, as they are going to have to face Jake Arietta, who has been nothing short of brilliant all season. Big win for the Cubs here.
