Top MLB Expert Picks of the Week (Sept. 12-18)

Written by on September 12, 2016

There are just 3 full weeks left in the MLB season, ad while many of the division races look to be over, there are still some playoff places to be decided. It’s getting to be crunch time for those teams who are on the outside looking in, as well as for those who are grimly hanging on to a Wild card spot. Every win is incredibly valuable at this stage of the season, and every loss means another nail hammered into the coffin for many teams. Picking winners gets a little tougher at this stage of the season, but let’s see if we can’t nail a few this week.be sure to check back in regularly for the updated online betting odds on these games, as well as for all the others on the schedule.

In Depth Analysis On The Top MLB Expert Picks of the Week (Sept. 12-18)

Detroit Tigers over Minnesota Twins – Tuesday

The Detroit Tigers are starting to get a little desperate, as they are still sitting a couple of games back of the final Wild Card spot in the AL. It doesn’t help that they are just 5-5 in their last 10, and are coming into this week on a 2-game losing skid. A series against the Twins may be just what the doctor ordered, and you have to like them on Tuesday with Matt Boyd on the mound. Boyd is 5-1 in his last 10 starts, and the Tigers have made a habit of winning when he pitches.

Chicago White Sox over Cleveland Indians – Wednesday

The White Sox have nothing left to play for but pride this season, and it’s easy to imagine them getting swept by the red hot Indians in this series. I think that Chicago will pick up a win in this series, though, and I believe it will come on Wednesday night. Carlos Rodon, winner in 5 of his last 6 starts, will be on the mound for the Sox, going against Josh Tomlin, who hasn’t picked up a win since the end of July.

Washington Nationals over Atlanta Braves – Friday

The Washington Nationals have all but clinched the NL East, and they have done in large part because of some excellent team pitching. Leading the way on the mound for the Nationals this season has been Max Scherzer, who is 16-7 with a 2.78 ERA. Let’s not also forget that Washington has had the number of the Braves for as long as anyone can remember now, and it really wouldn’t be a surprise to see the brooms come out in this series.

New York Mets over Minnesota Twins – Saturday

There has been a lot of talk about this Mets team being weak, but if you look at what they have done, especially at home, over the past few weeks, you will see a team that suddenly looks very strong. This is a series that you would certainly expect them to win, but if I have to pick just one game from the series, it would be the Saturday match-up. Seth Lugo will be pitching for the Mets, and he is currently riding a 5-game winning streak.
