Top MLB Series Of The Week (Sept. 26 – Oct. 2)

Written by on September 26, 2016

It has been a long, hard slog, but we all of the teams in the MLB are heading into the final week of the season, with the playoffs still a possibility for just a few. 5 of the 10 postseason spot have already been filled by the division leaders, and the Cleveland Indians are right on the brink of making it 6. That basically means that all that’s left to fight for are the Wild Card spots, and the teams involved in that race know that there is no room left for error. There are some very important series this week, and by the time Wednesday or Thursday rolls around, we could very well have everything decided, or it may go all the way down to the final day. That’s what makes this part of the season so much fun. Let’s take a quick look at the top online betting MLB series of the week.

In Depth Analysis On The Top MLB Series Of The Week

Cleveland Indians at Detroit Tigers – Sept 26 – 29

A single win in this series should be enough to clinch the AL Central for the Indians, who currently have a 7-game lead over the Tigers. Detroit Tigers need this series in the worst way possible, as they are now a game and a half back of the Orioles for the final Wild Card spot. The one thing in the favor of the Tigers in this series is that Cleveland may decide to start resting guys if they get that win early in the series. If Detroit can end up taking 3 of 4, they will put some real pressure on Baltimore and Toronto.

Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros – Sept 26 – 28

Both of these teams still have an outside shot of sneaking into the playoffs, but you have to think that a sweep is really what is needed here for either team. The Mariners are a half game up on the Astros right now, and are 2.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot. It’s safe to say that the team that drops this series will see their season come to an end. The odds will still be stacked against the winner, but they should still at least have some glimmer of hope, especially with a sweep.

Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays – Sept 27-28

These are the two teams holding onto the Wild Card spots in the AL right now, but are they both going to be there when the dust settles after this series? The winner of this match-up will more than likely book their place in the postseason, while the loser may end up being passed by one of the teams currently in the chasing pack. This has all the makings of a classic series, and is without a doubt the top series on the calendar this week.

Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals – Sept 30 – Oct 2

Mathematically speaking, the Pittsburgh Pirates are still alive, but at 4.5-games back of the playoffs, they are all but done. That doesn’t mean that they can’t have an impact on the proceedings, though, as they can close out the season by making sure that the Cardinals don’t get into the postseason. St. Louis are just a half game out right now, and they have a shot at being in a very good spot coming into this series, as they have the Reds to start the week.
