A Closer Look At The Weekend Action With Updated Winning 2017 MLB SU Picks
MLB SU Picks for Friday, June 30
Let’s start with what looks like a very easy pick for Friday night, which is the New York Mets over the Philadelphia Phillies. Neither team is having what anyone would call a banner year, but this one is all about the pitching match-up. The Phillies have lost 4 of the 5 games that pitcher Ben Lively has appeared in, while Jacob deGrom is one of the few saving graces on the Mets roster this season. I like this to be a comfortable win for the Mets. Let’s go with a bit of a surprise pick for our second SU pick for Friday. I like the Cincinnati Reds to win a close one at home to the Chicago Cubs. The World Series champs are coming of another disappointing series versus the Nationals, while the Reds just took 2 of 3 from the Brewers. Scott Feldman has been sharp on the mound for the Reds, and I think he can do a number on the Cubs hitters.MLB SU Picks for Saturday, July 1
My top pick for Saturday is the Boston Red Sox over the Toronto Blue Jays, and the only real reason that I need to give for this pick is the performance of Chris Sale on the mound this season. Sale is 10-3 with a 2.77 ERA this season, and he has been particularly good of late, going 8-1 with 1 no decision in his last 10 starts. I do think that this series will be tight, but I think the Red Sox are a sure bet in this one. They will also want to take his opportunity to final open up a lead atop the NL East before the first half comes to a close. The Yankees are in Houston for what promises to be an explosive series this weekend, and you have to say that it’s tough to bet against the Astros at home. Houston have only dropped 9 games at home all season long, and they always seem to rack up the runs when Francis Martes makes a mound appearance. In the 4 appearances that he has made on the mound, Houston has racked up 33 runs. Tough to imagine them losing here.
