World Series Game 6 Preview Chicago At Cleveland Expert Picks

Written by on October 31, 2016

After getting past the feisty Cleveland Indians 3-2 on Sunday night, the Chicago Cubs will turn to ace right-hander Jake Arrieta to help them even the 2016 Fall Classic at three games apiece when they take to the diamond tonight. The Tribe will counter by sending gifted right-hander Josh Tomlin to the bump opposite Chicago’s 2015 NL Cy Young winner. Now, let’s find out which World Series hopeful is offering the most online betting value in this highly-anticipated affair.

A Closer Look At The World Series Game 6 Preview Cubs At Indians Expert Picks

When: Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 8:00 PM ET Where: Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: Cleveland +120 / Chicago -140 / Total: 7 Starting Pitchers: Jake Arrieta – R (19-9, 3.15 ERA) / Josh Tomlin – R (15-9, 4.18 ERA)

Chicago Cubs (112-64)

Despite their 3-2 win on Sunday night, the Chicago Cubs and their fans should have some real concerns, seeing as how baseball’s highest scoring team during the regular season has managed to score just 10 total runs in five World Series games so far. The good news is that the Cubbies will turn to right-handed veteran Jake Arrieta (19-9, 3.15 ERA) in this win or go home matchup and that looks like a good thing – if he can duplicate his last performance. The 2015 Cy Young winner is clearly not throwing the ball like he did a year ago – and hell, he’s been wildly inconsistent to be honest about it. Over his last three starts, Arietta has gone 1-1 with a 3.78 ERA in just 16.2 innings. Over his last four starts, the ace right-hander has given up at least four earned runs twice, including a seven-run outing against Pittsburgh back on September 28. Arietta has reached the six-inning mark just once over the stretch, though he did look rock-solid in limiting the Indians to one earned run in 5.2 innings of Chicago’s 5-1 Game 2 win over the Tribe.

Cleveland Indians (104-70)

32-year-old right-hander Josh Tomlin (15-9, 4.18 ERA) has been phenomenal in not allowing more than two earned runs in a whopping eight straight appearances and seven straight starts. As matter of fact, Tomlin has limited the opposition to just one run in six of those outings, so the Tribe look like they’re going to have a great chance to get the ‘W’ if he just pitches like he has recently. Tomlin kept Chicago from scoring a single run in 4.2 innings of Cleveland’s 1-0 win in Game 3 and has compiled a stellar 1.76 ERA and 2-0 record in three starts this postseason.

Expert Prediction and Pick

The Cleveland Indians have looked like the superior team for the vast majority of the 2016 World Series, but I’m thinking a stellar putting from Jake Arietta – and some timely hitting from the Cubs hitters – will help lift them to the narrow road win against the Tribe tonight. With Chicago going 12-4 on the road behind Arietta and Cleveland posting an uninspiring 6-5 mark with Tomlin on the bump at home – I say the lovable Cubs get the win to force a seventh and deciding game for the 2016 Fall Classic.

Pick: Chicago 2 Cleveland 1
