Betting MLS Matchday 27 of the Season

Before the Leagues Cup interrupts the MLS schedule, there are a lot of things that the MLS teams need to handle during their domestic league play.

Inter Miami star Lionel Meiss injuring his ankle during Copa America may open a window for teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Herons were hoping to ride the Argentine star to their first MLS Cup.

However, how Messi recovers from that injury may play a large part in how things move forward.

There are many teams that have the talent to win the title and the races are starting to tighten up.

MLS matchday 27 will provide some insight into how things will go moving forward.

Writer’s Picks for Top Games in Matchday 27

Inter Miami knows how to play without Messi

Losing Messi definitely to an ankle ligament injury isn’t ideal.

However, the Herons have shown they aren’t as depedent on Messi to win matches as they were last season.

Inter Miami went on a five-match winning streak in May without Messi and were able to play well while he was away at Copa America.

The Herons are -162 on the three-way moneyline to beat the Chicago Fire on Saturday.

The Fire are +340 to win in regulation, while the match is +340 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 3.5 goals.

Inter Miami is in first place in the Eastern Conference sitting two points ahead of FC Cincinnati.

The Herons have won five of their past six matches.

During all of those wins, Inter Miami produced two or more goals.

Chicago has struggled to keep its legs recently.

The Fire have lost three of their past six matches.

Chicago failed to score in two of those contests.

Inter Miami will win this match.

NYCFC is a Possible Darkhorse

The Cityzens are sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

After playing well in the middle of the season, NYCFC has hit a bit of a rough patch.

The Cityzens on a three-match winless streak.

NYCFC will need to try and regain some of the magic it had in May when it plays Orlando City this weekend.

The Cityzens have been shut out in three of their past seven matches.

ORlando City has picked up four straight victories.

The Pride has scored two or more goals in four straight matches.

Orlando has looked especially impressive over its past three wins, scoring a combined 11 goals in wins over D.C.

United, the New England Revolution and Nashville.

Orlando is +102 to win on the three-way moneyline.

NYCFC is +240 to win in regulation, while the match is +260 to end in a draw.

The total is set at 2.5 goals.

Expect this match to produce at least three goals.

Canadian Teams Battle for Respect

Montreal and Toronto are right next to each other in the Eastern Conference standings.

Montreal has a game-in-hand and is even with Toronto in goal differential at minus-14.

But while Toronto is still in eighth place in the standings, Toronto hasn’t played like it.

Toronto has dropped seven of its past eight matches.

During this season, Toronto’s defense has been beaten soundly by nearly every opponent they played.

Save for a 2-1 win over Philadelphia on July 13, Toronto has allowed two or more goals in seven of its past eight matches.

Toronto has generated an expected goals of .9 or less in three straight matches.

Montreal is on a three-match unbeaten streak.

But it hasn’t been a dominant stretch for Montreal, with two of those results being draws.

Expect Montreal to win this one in regulation and extend Toronto’s suffering.

Atlanta United Needs to Turn Things Around

The Five Stripes have hit a rough patch in their schedule.

Atlanta United has fallen into a four-match winless streak.

While Atlanta United grabbed a 2-2 draw with NYCFC last time out, the Five Stripes had lost their previous three matches.

Taking on the Columbus Crew will be an interesting challenge this weekend.

The Crew are defending MLS Cup champions.

Columbus is on a six-match unbeaten streak.

The Crew have the look of a team that can cause a lot of damage.

The Crew have scored two or more goals in five of its past six matches.

Cucho has been Columbus’ top attack, producing 13 goals.

Diego Rossi also has eight goals.

Columbus is +117 to win on the three-way moneyline.

Atlanta United is +190 to win in regulation, while the match is +285 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 3.5 goals.

Expect Columbus to pick up a victory on the road.

San Jose May Be a Good Upset Pick

The San Jose Earthquakes may have a good opportunity at an upset pick.

Minnesota United hasn’t found itself on solid footing since early June.

The Loons are on a nine-match winless streak.

Seven of those results for Minnesota have been losses.

The Loons have seen that they have allowed two or more goals in four of the past five matches.

Minnesota will have to hope its attacking talent can start to score consistently again.

Tani Oluwaseyi has a team-high eight goals for Minnesota.

Robin Lod and Bongokuhle and Hlongwane have contributed six goals apiece.

The Earthquakes have also had their fair share of issues as of late.

San Jose has lost eight of its past nine matches.

The Earthquakes did have a brief moment of happiness when they knocked off the Fire at home.

San Jose has a diverse offense without having one player who has to carry the load.

Amahl Pellegrino has a team-high five goals.

Jeremy Ebobisse and Hernan Lopez Munoz have four goals apiece.

Minnesota United is -125 to win on the three-way moneyline.

The Earthquakes are +270 to win in regulation, while the match is +310.

The over/under has been set at 3.5 goals.

This is a good time to take a shot at San Jose at this price.

Neither team has played well.

Updated MLS Matchday 27 Betting: What Should You Bet this Week | MyBookie Regular Season Soccer Betting Preview

MLS Matchday 27: July 10th – July 16th, 2023

Columbus Crew vs. FC Cincinnati

MLS Odds: Crew -0.5; Cincinnati +0.5 / Crew +102; Cincinnati +255; Draw +246 / O/U 2.5
Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 7:30 pm ET
Lower.com Field, Columbus, Ohio, USA

The homestretch of the MLS schedule will kick off with an important battle of Ohio squads. FC Cincinnati has had an exciting first few months of the season and is sitting in first place in the conference. The Orange and Blue are six points clear of the pack, but Columbus won’t be in such a comfortable position.

The Crew is in sixth place and needs to collect points to try and earn a more comfortable spot. Columbus has been an effective offensive outfit, putting up 45 goals in 23 matches and holding a plus-12 goal differential.

FC Cincinnati has been a tighter defensive side, only allowing 25 goals in 23 games. The Crew is even money to win on the three-way moneyline. The game is +245 to end in a draw, and FC Cincinnati is +250 to win.

New York City FC vs. Minnesota United

MLS Odds: NYCFC -0.5; United +0.5 / NYCFC -102; United +280; Draw +246 / O/U 2.5
Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 7:30 pm ET
Citi Field, New York, New York, USA

NYCFC and Minnesota United are both teams that need to make serious moves down the stretch to make the playoffs. The Cityzens, who has been one of the MLS’ top sides over the past few years, have struggled to score. NYCFC has only scored 25 times in 24 games.

NYCFC has also had a hard time finishing games. The Cityzens have settled for 11 draws this season and only collected five victories.

Minnesota is on the fringe of the postseason but has a minus-four goal differential and has settled for more draws than it would have liked this season.

NYCFC is -110 on the three-way moneyline. The game is +250 to end in a draw, while Minnesota United is +275.

Seattle Sounders vs. Atlanta United

MLS Odds: Sounders -0.5; United +0.5 / Sounders -107; United +290; Draw +246 / O/U 2.5
Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 10:30 pm ET
Lumen Field, Seattle, Washington, USA

The Sounders and Five Stripes are both solid contenders to make a run at the MLS Cup. Atlanta is a team that is willing to throw its attacking players forward at its own expense.

The Five Stripes have scored 42 goals this season while allowing 39. Giorgos Giakoumakis (10 goals) and Thiago Almeida (eight goals, nine assists) have led Atlanta’s attack.

Giakoumakis, however, has been impacted by injuries and has missed a significant portion of the action.

The Sounders have been balanced this season. Seattle forward Jordan Morris led the team with nine. Sounders forward Raul Ruidiaz has also been playing good soccer and has scored four goals.

Seattle is -110 on the three-way moneyline. The game is +250 to end in a draw, while Atlanta is +280 to win.

Top 2022 MLS Weekend Matches to Bet On: LAFC vs RSL, Columbus vs NYCFC Analysis

Previous Betting News

It’s a busy week in the MLS, with a full slate of Wednesday games ahead of another full weekend.

Top 2022 MLS Weekend Matches to Bet On: LAFC vs RSL, Columbus vs NYCFC Analysis

There are, of course, a few teams that will get a break on Wednesday night, which might give them a bit of an advantage once the Saturday and Sunday games roll around, but our focus here is on the team that are in action this evening.

The MLS rolls into its first weekend of games in August and most of the teams have 10 games remaining in the regular season. The league had six games in the midweek meaning that nearly half the league will be playing this weekend for the third time in eight days.

After this weekend’s games the league hits the All-Star break. The MLS All-Star Game is set for Wednesday, August 10 in Los Angeles. The MLS All-Stars will face a team of All-Stars from Mexico’s Liga MX.

As the league prepares for the All-Star festivities, there are some big games this weekend. In the Western Conference, first-place LAFC travels to fifth-place Real Salt Lake. In the Eastern Conference, the Columbus Crew have been playing catch up all season and are finally in the top five as they host second-place NYCFC. It’s time to take a look at the top matches for the weekend so you can bet against their MLS Odds

Top 2022 Major League Soccer Betting Games for Saturday, August 6th

LAFC On Top As They Head to Utah

LAFC enter August with the best record not only in the Western Conference but in all of MLS as they lead the Supporters’ Shield Race. They are one of two teams in the league to average better than 2.0 goals per game.

Real Salt Lake are coming off a draw at  San Jose as they scored in the final minute on Saturday. They lost to FC Dallas 1-0 in their last home game, their only home loss in 11 games this season.

LAFC and RSL met three times last year with LAFC winning all three games by a combined score of 6-3. RSL last won in this series in 2020 but overall, the series is lef by LAFC 8-2.

These teams actually made a trade this week as well. Real Salt Lake acquired Danny Musovski from LAFC in exchange for $250,000 of General Allocation Money.  Musovski played in 16 MLS matches this season but started just six games and he scored two goals with one assist. With the addition of Gareth Bale, he lost more playing time at LAFC but injuries to others at RSL should give Musovski a chance to play.

Crisitan Arango leads LAFC with nine goals while Carlos Vela has seven and Jose Cifuentes has six. Jefferson Savarino has scored in two of the last three games for RSL and leads the team with five goals while Sergio Cordova has four.

At MyBookie, LAFC is the favorite on the road at +142. Real Salt Lake is +170 at home in Saturday’s game and a draw is +255. Over 2.5 goals is -135 and under 2.5 goals is +105.

Columbus Aims to Move Up against NYCFC

The end of the game on Wednesday fell apart for the Columbus Crew as they lost 2-1 to third-place Montreal. Now they have to rebound quickly as the second-place slide from NYCFC come to town on Saturday.

For the second straight game, the Crew dealt with a weather delay. This one came in the 74th minute with a 1-0 Columbus lead. But Montreal tied the game in the 88th minute and won in stoppage time to end the Crew’s nine-match unbeaten streak.

NYCFC’s last game was also against CF Montreal, a 0-0 road draw last weekend. They didn’t get a shot on goal in their first game without leading scorer Taty Castellanos, transferred to La Liga. They need to find a strong scoring option to replace Castellanos’s 13 goals and Heber is now the team leader with six goals.

These teams met in May with NYCFC winning at home 2-0. Castellanos and Talles Magno scored in that contest. Since the May 14 game, NYCFC has just one loss and the Crew have just two, both at home.

At MyBookie, Columbus is a slight home favorite at +150 on Saturday. NYCFC is +160 to win all three points and a draw is +245. Over 2.5 goals is -123 and under 2.5 goals is -107.

Top 2021 MLS Matches to Bet On the Weekend: Sounders vs Crew Highlight Game

Over in the Western Conference, LAFC lead the way as they look to make it to their 3rd straight MLS Final.

They are all in action, but let’s get to the games we like to bet on Wednesday night.

Columbus -174 vs Charlotte +400

The defending champions Columbus Crew are in action tonight as they look to keep pace with the leaders in the East.

Check out MLS odds, analysis, and predictions for three of the top Major League Soccer matches to bet on this weekend.

MLS Cup Rematch Highlights Weekend Schedule

Seattle Sounders at Columbus Highlights Weekend Action

On paper, the best game of the weekend is the nationally televised tilt between 2020 MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew and current Western Conference-leading Seattle Sounders. Columbus beat Seattle 3-0 in December to lift the MLS Cup, and the teams drew 1-1 in March 2020. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Crew are really struggling after another goalless effort on Wednesday in a 1-0 loss at New York Red Bulls. They have lost five matches in a row, and striker Gyasi Zardes left the game with a hamstring injury just before halftime. They haven’t scored in the last two games and have more than one goal just twice since July 9.

Seattle went to Texas on Wednesday and beat FC Dallas 1-0 thanks to another goal from striker Raul Ruidiaz. The MLS scoring leader has 14 on the season, including four goals in his last three games. Seattle leads the West with 39 points, and they lead the MLS with a +17 goal differential.

Despite their recent struggles, Columbus is still favored at +123. Seattle is +210, and a draw is +235.

Minnesota United Hosts Sporting KC in West Showdown

Two top-six teams in the West go head-to-head Saturday afternoon in Minnesota. Sporting KC sit in second place after a 1-1 draw against Portland Wednesday night gave them four MLS matches in a row without a loss.

Daniel Salloi’s 11th goal of the season came at the death Wednesday night for the 1-1 draw. He took a pass from Alan Pulido and scored to tie the game in the first minute of stoppage time. SKC has two wins and a draw on the road this month, outscoring teams 6-1 in those three games.

Minnesota had been invincible at home before a 1-0 loss to LA Galaxy last Saturday. That loss was just their second at Allianz Field in 2021. A 1-1 draw at San Jose on Tuesday saw MUNFC slide into sixth on goal differential to Real Salt Lake.

The Loons outshot San Jose 15-4 on Tuesday and had 65% of the possession but gave up an own goal just 12 minutes into the match. Will Trapp tied the game 10 minutes later, but Minnesota United couldn’t find the winner.

These teams haven’t played in 2021, with the Loons eliminating Sporting KC from the 2020 playoffs with a 3-0 road win. SKC won in Minnesota last August 2-1, and they are +240 to get a win this weekend. The hosts are +116, and a draw is +220.

Colorado Rapids On Form as they Host Real Salt Lake

Two of the up-and-coming teams in the West meet up Saturday night in Colorado as the Rapids host rival Real Salt Lake. The Rapids have won three in a row on the road with a home draw mixed in as they have moved into fourth place, just one point behind the Galaxy. With a late win Wednesday night, RSL is now in fifth, but seven points behind Colorado.

The Rapids closed that gap on the top three with a 2-1 win in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Johnathan Lewis scored early, and a 73rd-minute winner from sub Andre Shunyashiki gave Colorado another road win.

Real Salt Lake has picked up two wins in the last four days. They beat Austin at home on Saturday thanks to a goal from new arrival Bobby Wood. The former USMNT striker is back in the US after 14 years in Germany and paying immediate dividends for RSL

Wood assisted on Justin Mercam’s first-half goal Wednesday at home against Houston, and Anderson Julio won the game 2-1 in the 88th minute. The road has been tough for RSL this season, with four losses and two draws. They scored twice in the last road trip to Portland, but it was too little, too late in a 3-2 loss.

These teams met just under a month ago with a 3-0 RSL home triumph. Wood and Rubio Rubin scored after an early own goal. Colorado dominated the stats sheet with 60% possession and outshot RSL 9-5 but couldn’t score.

The last three games between these teams have been 3-0 RSL, 5-0 Colorado in September 2020, and 4-1 RSL in August 2020. RSL leads the series 24-14 with 11 draws.

The hosts are -110 for Saturday’s 9:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Real Salt Lake is +270, and a draw is +245.

MLS is Back Tournament Final – Portland Timbers Vs Orlando City SC Analysis

Previous Betting News

Columbus is 6 points off the pace being set by Cincinnati and have a tough one against 6th place Charlotte.

The Crew have been solid at home, going 6-1-3 in their own building.

They have scored 45 and surrendered just 19 goals this season, which could be a problem for Charlotte, who are having difficulty scoring, managing just 27 goals to this point. They are 4-6-1 on the road.

Okay, MyBookie soccer betting faithful, if you’re ready for some big-time action, then you should know it’s going down in a big way on Tuesday night when the Portland Timbers and Orlando City SC meet in the MLS is Back Tournament Final on Tuesday night. With both clubs looking to cap off this fun-filled tourney with a huge victory that will see the winner claim a berth in the CONCACAF Champions League, let’s find out which team is offering the best betting value in this high-stakes pairing of championship hopefuls, along with their MLS odds.

MLS is Back Tournament Final – Portland Timbers Vs Orlando City SC Analysis

Why Bet On Orlando SC

Orlando City SC has not lost in their last six matches and comes into the championship off a convincing 3-1 victory over Minnesota United FC on Thursday night. Orlando controlled the ball for 49.8 percent of the match and got the win as Nani scored a pair of goals and Benji Michel added another. Orlando got outshot by a whopping margin of 17-7 but they won the shots on target battle 4-3. Chris Mueller has scored a team-high four goals in the competition while Nani has two goals and two assists. Defensively, keeper Pedro Gallese has allowed been outstanding in limiting the opposition to just five goals on 18 shots faced. Orlando averages 1.5 goals per game (11th)while allowing just 0.9 per contest defensively to rank third overall.

Why Bet On Portland

Portland has won two straight and has not lost in their last seven matches. The Timbers reached the finals by recording a hard-fought 2-1 win over Philadelphia on Wednesday as Jeremy Ebobisse and Sebastian Blanco found the back of the net. The Timbers were outshot 17-15 and lost the shots on target battle 8-7, but keeper Steve Clark turned back six of those shots while allowing seven goals on 19 shots faced in the competition. The Timbers have scored at least two goals in five of their last six matches. Diego Valeri leads Portland with three goals, while Blanco has one goal and three assists. Portland averages 1.8 goals per game (6th) while allowing 1.3 goals per game defensively (7th).

General Match Info Portland Timbers (6-1-1) vs. Orlando City SC (5-1-2)

Expert Analysis and Prediction

Orlando City SC has gone an impressive 3-1-1 in five all-time meetings while outscoring the Timbers 10-7 along the way, but the pair played to a 1-1 draw the last time they met back on July 18, 2019. With this clash being a virtual home game for SC, I like Orlando for the ‘upset’ seeing as how the slight majority of soccer betting enthusiasts are backing Portland to get it done in this one, based mostly on past postseason experience. Orlando’s defense has been rock-solid and keeper Pedro Gallese is my pick to win MVP. This one will be a tight affair, but in the end, I like Orlando to get it done by a single goal.

Pick: Orlando SC 3 Portland 2

Dallas -104 vs Austin +270

We all love a good rivalry game, and we have one here, with a pair of Texas teams squaring off.

We can probably expect a close one here, given that each of the last 3 meetings between these teams have been decided by a single goal.

Dallas has struggled on the road, but they have been tough to beat at home, going 7-3-2.

Austin is 4 points ahead of their state rivals at the moment, but this will be a tough game for a team that is just 2-6-3 on the road.

Nashville +169 vs Orlando +148

This is another matchup that can essentially be described as a rivalry game, with both teams looking to be kings of the South.

Nashville is holding onto the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but their biggest issue has been creating offense, managing just 26 goals to this point.

Orlando has scored more than their opponents tonight, but they have also been leakier on defense.

The last 2 meetings between these teams have delivered just 2 total goals, with Orlando winning both.

Let’s stick with that trend.

LAFC -210 vs Real Salt Lake +460

They don’t come much bigger than this game, with these two teams tied on the same number of points at the top of the Western Conference.

LAFC has played a game less than their opponent, though, which is why they are in the #1 spot.

They are 9-1-2 at home and have scored 44 goals this season versus 29 against.

Real Salt Lake could take the top spot with the win, but they have been mediocre on the road, going 4-2-6.

They are joint top scorers in the West with 48 goals versus just 29 against.

Top 2022 MLS Week 26 Matches to Bet On Throughout the Week

Previous Betting News

Major League Soccer plays a match on Tuesday and then 5 matches on Wednesday. Tuesday’s match pits D.C. United against Los Angeles FC. Wednesday’s most intriguing game is New York Red Bulls on the road against Atlanta United. Check out MLS Odds, analysis, and free picks for this week’s top MLS matchups.

Top Major League Soccer Betting Games from Tuesday, Aug. 16th and Wednesday,  Aug. 17th

D.C. United +1.5 -126 vs Los Angeles FC -1.5 -105

When: Tuesday, August 16 at 8:30 pm ET

In recent matches, LAFC has turned it on big time. The home favorite has won 4-of-5. The lone loss happened in a club friendly versus Mexican Liga squad America.

D.C. United shows 3 losses, a draw, and a win in their last 5. This happens in Los Angeles. So although United will be tough to beat by 2 goals, LAFC is the play.

Soccer Pick: Los Angeles FC -1.5

New York Red Bulls +175 vs Atlanta United FC +145

When: Wednesday, August 17 at 5:30 pm ET

Atlanta United is playing well. The home team in this has a win and a couple of draws in their last 3. The win occurred on August 6 in a 2-1 victory versus the Seattle Sounders.

The New York Red Bulls have lost 4 with a draw in their last 5. If this were an NYRB home contest, the Red Bulls might be worth a look. But the odds don’t make the ATL an underlay. So the home team gets the nod.

Soccer Pick: Atlanta United FC

New England Revolution +175 vs Toronto FC +132

When: Wednesday, August 17 at 5:30 pm ET

Toronto FC versus New England Revolution should be an ultra-competitive match. Since a July  16 loss to Philadelphia Union, the Revolution have played great, drawing against Columbus and Toronto and beating Orlando City and D.C. United.

The home team chalk is also playing well. Toronto has won 3-of-4 with a draw against New England. Don’t expect another draw because this happens on Toronto’s pitch.

Soccer Pick: Toronto FC

Charlotte FC +1.5 -181 vs New York City FC -1.5 +136

When: Wednesday, August 17 at 6:00 pm ET

Both teams head into this after 2-game losing streaks. Road team Charlotte dropped a match 2-3 against Chicago and fell to LAFC 0-5 in their last.

Home team New York lost to Columbus and Miami by 3-2 scores. The last time NYFC played at home, they dusted Miami 2-0. New York can cover the handicap.

Soccer Pick: New York City FC

Philadelphia Union +190 vs FC Dallas +127

When: Wednesday, August 17 at 7:00 pm ET

Dallas is in good form. The home chalk has won 3 with a draw and a loss. But just because the home team is playing well, it doesn’t mean they’re a lock versus Philly Union.

The road squad in this has won 4-of-5. The odds difference is enough to back Union to grab an away victory.

Soccer Pick: Philadelphia Union

Colorado Rapids +180 vs Vancouver Whitecaps FC +136

When: Wednesday, August 17 at 8:00 pm ET

Colorado has 3 wins, a draw, and a loss in their last 5. The loss wasn’t bad. It happened in a road match versus the Seattle Sounders.

Since the loss, the Rapids have won 2. Colorado drew in their last, a match against the Columbus Crew. It’s tough to win on the road but the odds make Colorado an overlay.

Soccer Pick: Colorado Rapids

Top 2021 MLS Matches to Bet On the Weekend: Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers Rivalry Game

Previous Betting News

As the MLS rolls toward its All-Star game and kicks off the second half of the campaign, there are a few high-profile games this weekend. Most of the games feature top teams against bottom teams or middle of the standings teams going head-to-head.

However, there are a couple of rivalry games mixed in, plus a sprinkling of sneaky good games with teams in good form. The most intriguing game this weekend is the Cascadia Cup rivalry between Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers. Longtime rivals Columbus Crew and Chicago Fire face off while LA Galaxy travel to Minnesota United in the only matchup of the weekend between teams in the top five of the conference standings.  With all that being said, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches so you can bet against their MLS odds.

MLS Weekend Betting Preview – Seattle vs Portland, Columbus vs Chicago, Los Angeles vs Minnesota

Sounders Head to Portland in Best Rivalry

The rivalry between the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers is almost as heated on the field as it is in the stands. There is no love lost at all between these longtime Pacific Northwest rivals, and their feud has transcended multiple soccer leagues and levels over the last five decades.

The latest installment of the rivalry has been pushed back to a night game on Sunday because of an excessive heat forecast for Portland this week. The game will still be broadcast nationally with a 9 p.m. ET kickoff from Providence Park.

Seattle won the first matchup this season 2-1 on May 9, also in Portland. The Sounders were in legendary form at that point with an MLS record point streak to start the season. Seattle has won three of the last four in Portland after only winning there three times in the first 14 MLS trips.

Portland has allowed at least two goals in a game eight times this season, including their 3-2 win against Real Salt Lake last week. Felipe Mora leads the team with six goals, while Marvin Loria has four assists. Portland traded striker Jeremy Ebobisse to San Jose last month while bringing in attacker Santiago Moreno.

Seattle started the season as world beaters but now have just four points in their last five matches. Raul Ruidiaz has scored eight times against Portland since the start of the 2018 playoffs and leads the MLS in goals in 2021 with 11.

The sixth-place Timbers are slight favorites at +141, while second-place Seattle is +180. A draw is +225, and the game total is 2.5 goals (O -135, U +101).

Minnesota United Look to Keep Run Going

After a horrid start to the 2021 season, Minnesota United have played the best soccer in the Western Conference since mid-May. The Loons have climbed to fifth place in the West with a win or draw in 12 of the last 13 games, and they have lost just twice at home all season. This weekend they put that run on the line against third-place LA Galaxy at Allianz Arena Saturday afternoon on FOX.

The Galaxy are still without injured superstar Chicharito who has 10 goals in 10 games this season but hasn’t played since July 4. They have all their Gold Cup players back but drew 1-1 against last-place Vancouver Whitecaps last weekend.

The Galaxy have never lost to United with five wins and two draws. But this Galaxy team has struggled outside of California with only three wins in their last 13 road matches, and they haven’t won on the road since June 26.

United has allowed just 11 goals in the last 13 games. Robin Lod has four goals and two assists in the last five games, while Emanuel Reynoso has four assists in that span.

United are big favorites to close the gap on the top three at -135. The Galaxy are +320, and a draw is +295. The goal total is 2.5, with the over at -181 and the under at +129.

Fire Looking to Flip Rivalry

One of the longest rivalries in MLS history features the Columbus Crew and the Chicago Fire. The Crew were an original MLS side while Chicago joined just two years later, and these teams were the closest to each other in geography for the better part of two decades. They also faced off in some legendary MLS Cup Playoff and U.S. Open Cup ties.

The Crew have had the better of the rivalry lately, with the Fire not winning in the matchup since April 2018. Earlier this season, Columbus got a brace from Gyasi Zardes in a 2-0 win. Sunday, they face off at Soldier Field in Chicago with the Fire as favorites.

Columbus has lost three in a row to fall into seventh place. The defending champions do have Zardes and others back from Gold Cup and injury plus a week off to prepare for this match.

The Fire have the reigning MLS Player of the Week in Luka Stojanovic, who scored both goals in last week’s 2-1 win over Red Bulls. Chicago has a point in three straight overall and just one home loss in their last seven at Soldier Field.

The Fire are favored at +109 while the Crew are +220 on the road. The goal total is 2.5 with the over -126, the under at -108, and a draw is +245.
