Are Marc Marquez’s odds to win the 2019 Czech Republic Moto GP fair?
On paper, it sure looks as if Marquez should easily win on August 4. He’s won in Argentina, Spain, France, the Catalan Motorcycle Grand Prix, and in Germany. That’s 5 victories this year.
But, Marquez hasn’t been unbeatable. He lost at Qatar on March 10. He didn’t finish the Grand Prix of the Americas. He finished second to Danilo Petrucci at the Italian MotoGP. He finished second to fellow Spaniard Maverick Vinales in Holland at the Dutch Moto Grand Prix. That’s 4 losses, which means Marquez’s record this season is 5 wins out of 10 races.
When we look at it from that perspective, Marquez offers ridiculously low odds to win in the Czech Republic this Sunday. He’s most definitely a play against.
Which driver among Divizioso, Rins, Petrucci, and Vinales has the best shot of winning the race on Sunday?
All four listed drivers have a chance to win the Czech Republic MotoGP. Andrea Dovizioso finished fourth at the Dutch Moto Grand Prix. He finished fifth in Germany.
Alex Rins didn’t finish in both Holland and Germany. At the Catalan MotoGP, he finished fourth. Danilo Petrucci won the Italian Moto Grand Prix. Is it so hard to believe he won’t beat Marquez and his fellow drivers in the Czech Republic?
But although Divizioso, Rins, and Petrucci have a shot at upsetting Marquez, the real rider to back is Maverick Vinales. Vinales has been hot in the last couple of races. He won the Dutch MotoGP. He finished second to Marquez in Germany. Vinales can win on August 4.
Is there a driver between +20000 and +75000 odds who can win the 2019 Czech Republic Moto GP?
French rider Fabio Quartararo has yet to win. He also didn’t finish in Germany. He did finish third over the TT Circuit in Holland at the Dutch Moto Grand Prix, though. Quartararo also finished second behind Marquez in Catalan. That’s a third and a second in 2 of the last 3 Moto Grand Prix races.
Quartararo’s chances of winning aren’t nearly as good as Marquez’s or Vinales’. If you’re looking to back a major long shot, though, he’s probably the rider to take the longest look at.
