Winning a championship means staying consistent from start to finish over the course of a long, trying season. We have, in sports across the board, seen teams and athletes stumble coming down the stretch, allowing someone else to win it all. That is what we are seeing right now in MotoGP, with defending champion Fabio Quartararo stumbling coming down the stretch. The top of the standings is about as tight as it gets, and with just 3 races remaining, you have to wonder which rider will make the big move to win the championship. Those final 3 races begin this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix. There are just 2 points separating the top 2 riders, so who will prevail this coming weekend? Let’s take a look so you can bet against their MotoGP Odds.
MotoGP Betting Analysis for the 2022 Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix Race
Fabio Quartararo
At about the midway point of the season, Quartararo had 3 wins under his belt and looked well on his way to repeating as champion. He is now on a run of 7 straight races without a win, failing to pick up points in 2 of them. His lead has shrunk dramatically, and he is now hanging onto the top spot by the very thinnest of threads. Getting that momentum back at this late stage of the season is going to be tough, but this is a rider who knows how to win, so do not count him out. He has had 1 run on this Australia track and was forced to retire in that one.
Francesco Bagnaia
Last season, Bagnaia went on an absolute tear to close out the season, winning 4 of the last 6 races to end up in 2nd overall. He is finishing strong again in 2022, getting on the podium in 6 of the last 7 races, 4 of which were consecutive wins. He has all the momentum at this point, which has a lot of race fans thinking that he can go on and win the championship. He had a very decent run in Australia in his first season with MotoGP, finishing 4th in that one. I have a feeling he might go even better this weekend.
Aleix Espargaro
With 3 races left on the schedule, you have to say that the championship battle is down to 3 riders. Espargaro is on that list, as he is currently sitting on 199 points, which has him just 20 points out of first place. This has definitely been a breakout season for the Spanish rider, but can he do enough to close that gap in the final 3 races of the season? The fact that he has just 1 win this year suggests that he might come up short, but with 5 podium finishes outside of that win, perhaps he can continue to close the distance and make it exciting all the way to the end.
Enea Bastianini
There is almost zero chance that Bastianini will end the season as the world champion in MotoGP, but he will still be looking to finish strong and finish as high on the leaderboard as possible. He does already have 4 wins on the season, so it’s not as though he isn’t capable of putting together a strong closing run.
