There are 7 races remaining in the 2024 MotoGP season, and the battle for the championship looks as though it is going to go all the way down to the final race.
As it stands now, there are just 7 points separating the top 2 riders, while a former champion is on the rise in 3rd place.

My Analysis of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix
We are in for an exciting race to the championship finish line, and it is a brave person who would predict the final winner at this stage of the proceedings.
We are taking it one race at a time, which means focusing on the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix this weekend.
It has been a couple of years since MotoGP has been at the track, so let’s keep that in mind as we look at the current top riders in the championship standings.

Jorge Martin
While he is currently sitting in the top spot, Martin is coming off his worst performance of the season, assuming you don’t count the races where he was forced to retire.
Prior to the previous race, Martin had finished no worse than 4th, so his 15th place run in San Marino was certainly unexpected.
The fact of the matter is that he cannot afford too many more of those types of performances if he is to retain the #1 spot all the way to the end of the season.
He has only raced on this track once at this level, retiring from that one, but a top 3 finish this weekend seems a safe bet.
^Francesco Bagnaia
The 2-time defending champion lost his top spot after failing to finish in Aragon a couple of races ago, but he did manage to bounce back with a 2nd place run in the last race on the schedule.
Prior to that, he was on a run that saw him win 6 of 8 races, so there is every reason to believe that he will be back on top of the podium sooner rather than later.
I would be more than a little willing to take him to win this weekend, even though he failed to finish last time out on this track.
^Marc Marquez
Don’t look now, but the master of MotoGP is on the move. There was a period of time, not so very long ago, when Marquez was easily the best rider in the sport, winning championships for fun.
It was injuries that slowed his progress, and after a couple of years in the wilderness, Marquez is beginning to find his feet again.
He has now won each of the last 2 races to move into 3rd overall, although he is still 53 points out of the top spot.
That’s a lot to make up in 7 races, but if Marquez can keep piling up the wins, he might make it very interesting.
^Enea Bastianini
With a gap of 62 points to close before the end of the season, it is now more than likely that Bastianini is going to have to settle for one of the lesser prizes.
This is not to say that the gap is insurmountable, but he just doesn’t win often enough to make a serious dent in that gap.
He does have 1 win this season, but he would need several more to make a serious run.
His last race on this track ended with a 3rd place finish, so perhaps a podium bet might not be the worst idea.
