We are now well into the second half of the MotoGP season, but with 8 races to come, you have to say that the World Championship is still very much up for grabs. We have something of a unique challenge coming for the riders this weekend, as they will be heading to India for the next race on the schedule, with the majority of the riders probably hitting this track for the first time in their career. That does make handicapping the race a little tougher, as we are all well aware that some riders do better on specific tracks, so it’s impossible to know what is going to happen in this one. All we can do is take a look at the MotoGP odds and the current top performers to see how they are looking ahead of this one, so let’s get right to it.

Francesco Bagnaia
After a breakthrough season in 2021, where he came ever so close to winning the championship, Bagnaia finally got to the top of the mountain last season. Right now, he is back on top of the leaderboard, but this looks as though it might be a tight battle to the finish. You do have to say that the champ is going to be tough to beat, as he has landed on the podium in all but one of the races he has finished this season. That includes picking up 5 wins, which is just 2 fewer than what he managed in all of the 2022 season. He has, though, gone 2 races without a win and would like to get back to the #1 spot here.

Jorge Martin
It did look for a moment as though Bagnai was going to roll to his 2nd straight championship, but Martin now looks as though he might have something to say about that. Martin had won just 1 race this season before going into a bit of a mini slump, where he failed to land on the podium in 3 straight races. He broke out of that with a 3rd place finish in the Catalan Grand Prix before winning in San Marino last time out. Those results have helped him narrow the gap at the top to just 36 points and well within striking distance.

Marco Bezzecchi
While I wouldn’t count Bezzecchi out of the championship battle just yet, he does need to pick things up quickly if he is going to close that gap. As it stands right now, he is 29 points behind Martin and 65 points out of the top spot, so he does need to start picking up wins immediately. Bezzecchi certainly has the talent to do so, as he does have a pair of wins to his name this season, but both of those came in the early going. While he has had some podium finishes since then, it’s not enough if he is to really push the top 2 coming down the stretch.

Brad Binder
Binder is currently sitting in 4th overall in the rider standings, which is why we have to talk about him here. That said, it is worth remembering that he has failed to win a race at this level as of yet, although he does have a few podium finishes to his name. If you are interested on wagering on him this weekend, top 5 is probably the way to go.
