The 2024 MotoGP season is heading into its final stages, with just 6 races remaining before a champion is crowned.
While there is a clear leader at the top of the standings, things are still tight enough to suggest that we could be in for something of a grandstand finish over the final few weeks of the season.

My Analysis of the Grand Prix of Indonesia
There are still several drivers who will feel that they can finish strong and overtake the leader, but we are at the stage of the season where leaving points on the track could be the difference between winning it all and being forced to settle for the lesser places.
The next race on the schedule comes this weekend in Indonesia, so let’s look at the riders still vying for the title.

Jorge Martin
One thing that jumps out when you look at the races in MotoGP this season is that there has not been a single rider that we could classify as dominant.
The wins have been spread out across the board, so for Martin, who is the current leader, the task is simply to keep finishing races and adding to his point total, which sits at 341.
While that is a decent number, it also means that he is only 27 points up on the closest challenger, which is not much when there are still 6 races to come.
Martin has not won for a while, but he does have 5 2nd place finishes in the last 7 races.
^Francesco Bagnaia
We said at the top of this piece that riders cannot afford to leave points on the track, but that is what has happened to Bagnaia in 2 of the last 3 races, where he has been forced to retire.
While he is still well within reach of the lead, he cannot afford to keep missing out on valuable points, especially when Martin is picking up podium finishes at the same time.
Bagnaia needs to get back to winning and this might be the race where he does it, as he won the Indonesian Grand Prix last season on his way to a championship.
^Enea Bastianini
While it seems as though we might be drifting into 2-horse race territory in terms of winning the championship, you probably shouldn’t say that to Bastianini.
He kept himself in the conversation with a win in the previous race on the schedule, which means that he now has 2 victories in the last 5 races.
Bastianini is still 59 points out of the top spot, but if he can continue to pick up wins, he could stay in the hunt and potentially mount a serious challenge.
He ran 8th in this race last season, but I think we can expect better this time around.
^Marc Marquez
It has been good to see former champion Marquez back up among the leaders after a couple of seasons battling injury, but it is beginning to look as though his championship challenge is going to come up short.
He has, though, been outstanding of late, winning twice and finishing 3rd in the last 3 races.
That is championship winning form, but is it a case of too little too late for Marquez? Expect him to be in amongst the top riders again this weekend.

MotoGP Betting Analysis for Grand Prix of Indonesia: Are we going to see the standings remain the same after this race, or will we have a new leader at the top of the standings? Let’s take a look at the MotoGP betting picks of the current top 4.

If you were hoping for a close battle for the MotoGP World Championship this season, then your wishes are coming true. There are 6 races remaining in the 2023 season, with the top 2 racers separated by just 3 points. Yes, it is essentially a 2-horse race at this point, unless one of the other racers can get on a tear through the final weeks of the season, but it’s one that is promising to be more than a little fun to watch. The next race up on the schedule comes this weekend, with MotoGP heading to Indonesia.

Francesco Bagnaia
We tend to forget that the season is long and that winning a championship means staying consistent from start to finish. Bagnaia, who is looking for his 2nd straight World Championship, has done a pretty solid job of staying consistent, but he has had some issues over the last few races, missing one and failing to finish in another. In between those races, he has had 2 more where he landed on the podium but failed to win. It is all of that which has led to his lead being cut to just 3 points. He’ll be looking to get back on track this weekend, but he did finish 15th in this race last season, so another showing like that, and the lead will be gone.

Jorge Martin
For most of the season, Martin did enough to hang around among the leaders without ever really looking as though he was ready to mount a serious challenge. That all changed over the last 3 races, where he picked up a pair of wins and a 2nd place finish. He is getting hot at just the right time, although you do have to wonder if he can maintain this pace or if he is going to slip back to his results from earlier in the season. We might well get a partial answer to that this weekend. Tough to know what he might do on this track, as he was forced to retire in Indonesia last season.

Marco Bezzecchi
While we believe that the season has turned into a 2-horse race, Bezzecchi would almost certainly argue that point. He heads to Indonesia sitting on 265 points, which leaves him 59 points out of the lead. With 6 races to come, it is not an insurmountable lead, but he is going to need to be damn near perfect the rest of the way if he is to move from 3rd to 1st and the World Championship. His performance in Indonesia last year was forgettable, but he is much stronger in 2023.

Brad Binder
The harsh reality of this sport is that you cannot really expect to win a World Championship if you are regularly winning races. That is where Binder finds himself at the moment, as he is still looking for his first win of the season. There have been some podiums along the way, but not enough to stay in touch with the racers at the top of the standings. He had an 8th place finish in Indonesia last season, so I might be tempted to take him for a top 5 finish this weekend.
