MotoGP Odds, Analysis & Prediction Italian Grand Prix Favorites

For years in MotoGP, all of the riders raced in the shadow of Marc Marquez, who dominated the sport for a decade or so. Over the past couple of seasons, Marquez has struggled with injuries and has had to skip the majority of races on the schedule. That has opened the door for a potential changing of the guard, which some riders have grasped with both hands. One rider in particular, Fabio Quartararo, has emerged from the pack to become the man to beat. After 7 races this season, he is out on front again, but there is still plenty of time for the chasing pack to play catch up. This weekend, the riders will be in Italy for the next race on the schedule, so let’s take a closer look at a few of the MotoGP Betting favorites.

Fabio Quartararo

During the 2020 season, Quartararo came storming out of the gate and looked like he was going to run away with the championship. It turned out to be a pace he could not maintain, especially in the second half of the season, where he slipped down to 8^th overall. With that in mind, there was reason to be skeptical last year when he got off to another fast start. He seemed to have learned from the previous season, though, and went on to win it all, virtually unopposed from start to finish. He is off to a similar start this season and once again sits atop the standings. He has not been outside the top 10 in all 7 races, and given that he won in Italy last year, you might expect another strong run.

Enea Bastianini

Bastianini is still a relative newcomer to MotoGP, as this is just his 2^nd full season at this level. He made the move to MotoGP after winning the Moto2 World Championship in 2020. Last season, he did manage a couple of podium finishes, but he failed to pick up a win, ultimately finishing 11^th overall. We have seen a big turnaround in 2022, though, as he has already won 3 races and would potentially be at the top of the standings had he not been forced to retire in one of his earlier races. Whether he can maintain this level for the whole season remains to be seen, but for now, he looks like a good bet.

Alex Rins

After a breakout season in 2020, when Rins finished 3^rd overall, he had a bit of a setback last year. He was forced to miss a race and also had to retire in 5 others. That’s a lot of points left on the track and is a big part of the reason why he ended up finishing 13^th overall. He looks to be back on track this year, though, and while he does not have a win, he has been on the podium a couple of times. His best finish in Italy was 4^th, so again, perhaps one to like here.

Francesco Bagnaia

After winning the Moto2 World Championship in 2018, Bagnaia made the move to MotoGP, where he failed to make a mark for the first couple of years. His breakout came last season, especially in the latter stages, winning 4 of the last 6 races to move all the ay up to 2^nd overall. He does have a win this season, but he has been forced to retire in a pair of races, which has had an impact on his point total. Still a very good rider and one to watch.
