This season in MotoGP has turned into something of a title fight, with the top 2 riders swapping blows in the quest for a World Championship.
We are now down to the final 2 races of the season, with just 17 points separating the 2 men at the top.

My Analysis of the Grand Prix of Malaysia
Someone is going to need to blink first as they try to deal with the tremendous pressure that comes from trying to end the season as a champion.
This weekend, the riders will be in Malaysia for the penultimate race of the season, and depending on how things play out, we could potentially see the title decided by the time the weekend comes to an end, but given how things have gone to this point, I think we are going to go the distance before a champion is crowned, Let’s take a look at the current top 3.
^Jorge Martin
It is Martin who continues to lead the way, and while he has not been winning a ton of races, he has found a way to stay on the podium on a regular basis.
In fact, he has been no worse than 2nd in 8 of the last 9 races, with just 1 win during that stretch.
At this stage of the proceedings, Martin actually has 1 less win than he had at this stage last year, which was when he had to settle for 2nd overall.
If he can maintain his current run of form over the final 2 races of the season, he will more than likely end 2024 as the World Champion.
Last year, he finished 4th in this race, so I think there is a very good chance that Martin keeps his top 3 streak alive.
^Jorge Martin could be crowned MotoGP World Champion this weekend.

To win the title he must win both the Sprint and Grand Prix, and Bagnaia must fail to finish higher than fifth in the Sprint and Grand Prix.

Francesco Bagnaia
Over the last few weeks, it has become very clear that the 2-time defending World Champions is not going to give up his title without a fight.
Bagnaia has been chipping away at the lead, winning 2 of the last 3 races to slowly but surely close the gap.
The reason that he has not been able to get back into the top spot is because he had a recent stretch where he was forced to retire in 3 of 3 races.
In a championship race this tight, you simply cannot afford to leave points on the track.
Bagnaia finished 3rd in this race last season, and I think he might actually win it this time around.

Marc Marquez
While Marquez is not going to win another World Championship, he has proven that he is over the injuries that have plagued him over the last few years.
This is especially true in the second half of the season, where he has started to pick up wins and look like the tie rider from the years when he was winning championships for fun.
Marquez has won 3 of the last 6 races and is essentially serving notice that next year could be great.
With his current form, it’s tough to imagine him finishing outside the top 3 in this one.
He has not been great on this track over the last couple of years, but as mentioned, injuries have to be taken into account.

2023 MotoGP Malaysia
With 3 races remaining in the 2023 MotoGP season, we have a championship battle on our hands, which is great for those of us who love a finish that goes down to the wire.

It is a 2-horse race at this point, but those 3 riders are separated by a mere 13 points, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things. With that in mind, we will not see the championship decided this weekend in Malaysia, but it is possible that we could see a lead change or the gap at the top get just a little smaller. In short, it’s all to race for in Malaysia, but who is going to come out on top? Will the leaders continue to dominate, or will we have another racer play the role of spoiler? Let’s take a closer look.

Francesco Bagnaia
The defending MotoGP champion is still on top of the standings, but he did lose a little ground in the last race in Thailand. He finished 2nd in that one, but the rider who is trying to catch him, who we will get to in a moment, came away with the win. That aside, you cannot argue with just how good Bagnaia has been coming down the home stretch, as he has a win and a trio of 2nd place finishes over the last 4 races. There is certainly reason to believe that he can keep this hot streak alive, as he won this race in Malaysia last season in his way to the championship. A repeat of that performance would move him one step closer to a repeat.

Jorge Martin
Just when it looked as though Bagnaia was going to cruise to a second straight MotoGP World Championship, Martin found another gear. He has been strong in the second half of the season and has picked up wins in 3 of the last 6 races. Where it not for the fact that he was forced to retire in Indonesia, we might well be talking about Martin being at the top of the rider standings. It’s tough to know what to expect from him on this particular track given that he was forced to retire from the Malaysia Grand Prix last season. My guess is that he will be very much in the hunt for another win.

Marco Bezzecchi
It has not been a terrible season for Bezzecchi, who has had 3 wins to this point, but he has simply not done enough to stay in the championship race. Outside of those victories, Bezzecchi has not been on the podium enough to pick up the valuable points required to sustain a championship challenge. He does, though, have the capability to play the role of spoiler in the final 3 races of the season, as he has proven that he can win at this level. Bezzecchi ran 4th in Malaysia last season.

Brad Binder
While he has no chance of winning it all at this point, Binder will still be looking to finish strong, as he has a chance to deliver his best season to date. His 6th place overall finish last year was a career high, and it very much looks as though he will indeed beat that by a couple of places. He has not won a race this season, so if you do want to wager on him, I would be looking at a top 3 or top 5 finish. He was 8th in Malaysia last season.
