We are now just 2 races into the new MotoGP season, and while the championship standings may not look how everyone expected, we will see them change before all is said and done. It is worth noting that several riders missed the previous race in Argentina because of injuries sustained in a big crash in Round 1, so things will be shaken up when those guys return, with most of them set to get back on the track this weekend. This should be a fun race coming up, as we don’t very often see MotoGP races outside of Europe. The racers will be at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, with valuable points on the line. Let’s take a look at MotoGP betting analysis and the current top 4 in the standings, as these guys may well be in the hunt in this race.
MotoGP Betting Analysis for the Grand Prix of The Americas
Marco Bezzecchi
This is only the 2nd full season in MotoGP for Bezzecchi after racing in Moto2 for a few years. He had a somewhat middling start to life at this level, finishing 12th overall last season, but it does look as though he might be ready to take a big step forward. He ran 3rd in the opening race of the season before getting his first win at this level in Argentina in the last race. It’s a fantastic start, to be sure, but can he maintain the pace he is setting early on? Only time will tell. Last year, Bezzecchi ended up being forced to retire in this race.

Johann Zarco
It would have to be considered a bit of a risk to play Zarco to win this weekend given that he has yet to take a checkered flag in 6 full seasons racing with MotoGP. Despite that, his overall results have not been totally horrible, with a 5th place finish in the championship standings his best career season to this point. He is bettering that at the moment, with a pair of runs in the top 5 though the opening 2 races of the season. I might be willing to take him for another top 5 finish here, but wagering on him to win seems like a bridge too far.

Alex Marquez
Marquez finished his time in Moto2 by winning a championship, but he has failed to reach those heights again since moving over to MotoGP on a full-time basis in 2020. He has yet to pick up a win at this level. But he does have some podium finishes to his name, including a 3rd place finish in Argentina last time out. He was also top 5 in the opening race of the season, so he is certainly knocking on the door in 2023. He was forced to retire in the 2022 version of this race, so not much to go on with this track.

Franco Morbidelli
This is another Moto2 champion who has struggled at times to do well at the top level. Unlike some of the others, though, he does have some wins under his belt, all of which came in the shortened 2020 season, where he ended up finishing 2nd overall. Hos best run this season was a 4th place finish in Argentina, while he ran 26th on this track last season. Another longshot pick here, and a rider who might not stay this high in the standings for long.
