NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500

Written by on June 4, 2020

After being forced to sit out with the rest of the sports world, NASCAR is doing all that it can to make up for lost time. They are setting a frenetic pace to get things back on schedule, which is great news for racing fans, as it often means a couple of races per week. That, of course is just the Cup Series, with all the other departments of NASCAR also racing to catch up. It means that we have a lot to cover on any given week, which is why we are going to focus on 3 different races today, starting with the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, which is set to go on Sunday afternoon at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Let’s look at some of the favorites for this race so you can make your bets against their NASCAR odds.

NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500

Kevin Harvick (+500)

Through the first 9 races of the season, it is Kevin Harvick who finds himself sitting atop the Cup Series driver standings. Harvick has one win to his name this season, but he has also been stunningly consistent, landing in the top 10 in 8 of those 9 races. It’s a run of form that is going to be difficult to maintain, but given how Harvick has performed at the Atlanta Motor Speedway over the years, it seems like this might not be the weekend where that form ends. He has been in the top 10 in each of his last 5 starts in Atlanta, including a win there in 2018. He seems like a very solid bet here.

Kyle Busch (+600)

We are all still waiting for Kyle Busch to break out and really get his season started, as he is still winless through the first 9 races of the year. He has, though, been knocking on the door, landing in the top 5 in 5 of those races. The law of averages would seem to dictate that if he maintains that type of consistency, he will take a checkered flag sooner rather than later. He has a pair of wins at Atlanta, although the last one came in 2013. Busch has finished in the top 10 in his last two races there.

Chase Elliott (+600)

Elliott is off to a fine start to the 2020 season, as he currently sits in third in the driver standings, a mere 45 points out of the top spot. Elliott does have a win under his belt already this season and has been in the top 5 no less than 4 times already. He also has the distinction of having the most stage wins eight now, with 5 of those. The problem that he has here is that he does not have a ton of experience at Atlanta, having raced there just 4 times. He finished in the top 10 in his first two races in Atlanta, but he has been poor in his last two starts.

Martin Trues Jr. (+750)

I would suggest that the best value on the board right now might well be Martin Truex Jr., as he always seems to be in the mix whenever he races at Atlanta Motor Speedway. You can argue that he has never won there, but you also have to take notice of the fact that he has finished in the top 10 (3 times in the top 5) in 7 of his last 8 starts there. This is a guy that is due for a win at that track, so I might be inclined to take a chance on him at a very nice price.
