With the Miami Heat taking Game 3 of the 2020 NBA Finals on Sunday and the start of a new week bringing the Heat new hopes – and more new rumors – it’s time to find out which rumors are making the latest rounds. With the upcoming 2020 NBA draft and impending free agency both, right around the corner, let’s get started so you can get ready your bet against their NBA odds.
Check Out the Latest Rumors in the NBA | October 5th Edition
James Harden to Milwaukee
Harden has been the league’s scoring champion and a top-3 MVP candidate for the past three years. Yet, his accomplishments haven’t gotten Houston any closer to an NBA Championship. One new rumor is that Harden could try to force his way out of Houston to join Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee in a trade that would certainly include all-star shooting guard Khris Middleton and likely, veteran point guard Eric Bledsoe. Still, it would take a lot of action on Milwaukee’s part to make this deal happen and really, it looks like too much, for a Bucks team that is definitely more small market than anything else.
PG13
One other juicy rumor has L.A. Clippers all-star forward Paul George being shipped off to the Brooklyn Nets for Caris Levert and Jarrett Allen, among other players, like Spencer Dinwiddie, that could be included in a huge deal. Again, I don’t think the likelihood of this trade happening is very high, but with Clippers owner Steve Ballmer reportedly furious about his team’s stunning postseason collapse, I guess anything is possible (thanks KG).
Buddy Heild To Dallas
The Mavs would get the sweet-shooting, but disgruntled, Sacramento star while the Kings would get back veteran swingman Tim Hardaway Jr. and the Mavs’ 18th overall pick in the draft. Hardaway Jr. Had a fine season in Dallas by putting up 15.8 points per game while shooting 39.8% from beyond the arc. Heild averaged 19.2 points while draining 39.4% of his attempts from downtown. Heild is reportedly extremely unhappy playing for Kings head coach Luke Walton and unequivocally wants out of Sac-Town. Stay tuned NBA fans, this one could actually happen.
Ben Simmons to Golden State for No. 2 Pick
While no one is sure right now how Doc Rivers is going to want to shape his roster after accepting a five-year deal to coach the 76ers this past week, but I can’t imagine Rivers trading a proven star for Golden State’s No. 2 overall pick and a couple of players like Eric Paschall or Jordan Poole, that could be included in this proposed swap. Right now, I’m not giving this proposed trade much credence and neither should you.
Myles Turner Rumors
The new week brings an entirely new set of trade rumors for Indiana’s Myles Turner. In addition to rumors already linking him to the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, there’s a proposed trade that could send Turner to Toronto for either Marc Gasol or Serge Ibaka, with Turner joining Pascal Siakim in the Raptors’ frontcourt. Turner has also been mentioned as a potential target for both, Sacramento and New Orleans.
Victor Oladipo Rumors
The new week also bring new rumors surrounding Turner’s Indiana Pacers teammate Victor Oladipo. In addition to hearing rumors he could end up in Boston, possibly for Gordon Hayward, new rumors have the Lakers targeting Oladipo for young forward Kyle Kuzma, who, inevitably seems to be out of L.A. at some point in the near future. In the 19 regular season game he played with the Pacers, Oladipo averaged 14.5 points per game to go along with 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He played in four playoff games as well, averaging 17.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
Clipboard Carrying Rumors
The L.A. Clippers are reportedly set to meet this week with current assistant coach Tyron Lue. Another name that is reportedly on the Clippers’ wish list is former NBA head coach Jeff Van Gundy. While he hasn’t coached in the league since 2007, Van Gundy is still widely respected and could end up back in the saddle somewhere this offseason.
In Houston, the latest news has the Rockers preparing to interview Minnesota Timberwolves associate head coach David Vanterpool for their head coaching position. Another team looking long and hard at Lue is the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pels want to get the right coach to build their young team and their interview list also includes Lakers assistant Jason Kidd.
In Indiana, the Pacers are reportedly looking at former Sacramento Kings head coach Dave Joerger, Pelicans assistant Chris Finch and former NBA champion Chauncey Billups, among others. Joerger, who last coached the Kings from 2016-2019, is reportedly the leading candidate right now for the Pacers opening.
