Updated 2020 NBA Championship Odds – February 4th Edition

Written by on February 4, 2020

Prior to last season, you could very easily argue that the NBA had become a little predictable. It was almost certainly guaranteed that the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers would be duking it out for the NBA Title. The Toronto Raptors winning it all last season was the shake-up that the NBA needed, while the large number of free agents moved in the offseason made this year a whole lot tougher to predict. We are coming up on the All-Star Game soon, so now is as good a time as any to look at how the conferences are shaking out and how that has affected the current odds to win the 2020 NBA championship. Let’s take a closer look at some of the favorites.

LA Lakers

Many people thought that the Lakers would become an instant contender the moment that LeBron James slipped on that iconic yellow jersey, but last year proved that the Lakers needed a little more help if they are to routinely challenge for championships. The acquisition of Anthony Davis appears to have put the Lakers on the right track, as they are sitting atop the Western Conference with a 3-game lead on their city rivals.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks had an outstanding season last year, but they came up just a little short, losing to the eventual champions, the Toronto Raptors, in the Eastern Conference Final. They look ready to take another run at this thing, though, as they have been far and away the best team in the league this season, going 42-7 through the first half of the year. They look like a very good bet to win the East, although a lot of us said that last year, too.

LA Clippers

If anyone team is going to seriously challenge the LA Lakers at the top of the Western Conference, you would have to say that the Clippers look the most likely. They are 3 games off the pace at the time of writing, but they have been slowly chipping away at that lead over the last couple of weeks. After a bit of an uneven start, they look to be hitting a groove and will be a team to keep an eye on in the second half of the season.

Philadelphia 76ers

The promise shown by the 76ers over the last couple of seasons has not really panned out into anything special, and it actually looks as though they have taken a backward step this season. If you are of the belief that this team can come to life in the second half and make a charge, you may want to wait a moment, as I think you are going to get some better odds on them than currently available, although that is still a very nice price right now.

Boston Celtics

The Milwaukee Bucks look like a lock to win the Eastern Conference, but there are a couple of teams that might still have a say on how things play out in the postseason. The Toronto Raptors are running hot right now and the Boston Celtics are not that far behind the defending champions. The Celtics are certainly worth a look if you are looking to play a team at a very good price.
