Every year, NBA fans will loudly debate which of the two conferences is the strongest. Some years. It is a legitimate discussion that is tough to come up with a clear winner, but that does not appear to be the case this season. At the midway point of the season, it certainly looks as though the Western Conference is the stronger of the two, but that does not mean that a team from the East has no shot at winning the NBA crown. There are in fact a few teams who could very well make a serious run at the title, which is what we are going to get into here. Let’s now dig a little deeper and take a look at the current favorites to win the Eastern Conference crown so you can continue planning your bets against their NBA Eastern Conference odds.
Updated Odds to Win the 2021 NBA Eastern Conference
Brooklyn Nets (+120)
The Brooklyn Nets did not start the season as the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, but that all changed the moment they went out and acquired the services of James Harden. A team that started the season on a bit of a rollercoaster ride has now settled into a groove. The Nets have become a good deal more consistent and are now within a half game of the top spot in the East, a position that they might certainly nab before we get to the All-Star Break. The big three on this team appearing to be gelling and taking turns to score. If it stays that way, the Nets are going to be very tough to beat.
Milwaukee Bucks (+330)
One of the biggest surprises of the season has been the play of the Milwaukee Bucks, who have far and away been the best regular season performer over the last couple of seasons. The Bucks have struggled for consistency this year, but when they are on their game, they look absolutely unbeatable. The knock on this team over the past couple of seasons has been their ability to get the job done in the playoffs, so perhaps their regular season struggles are a sign that they are about to flip the script and make a run in the postseason. I would not count this team out just yet.
Philadelphia 76ers (+450)
Given how long they have been in the top spot in the Eastern Conference, it is perhaps a little unfair that we are all waiting to see how long it will be before they finally relinquish that spot. Given how good the Nets now look, that move may come sooner rather than later, but does that mean that we should automatically count out the 76ers as a threat in the Eastern Conference. I don’t believe it does, as they have proven to be very good through the first half of the season. There is no reason why that form should not carry over into the second half.
Toronto Raptors (+1100)
It’s easy to forget that the Raptors are not that far removed from winning an NBA title, perhaps because they have not looked particularly good this season. They got off to a very rough start and found themselves sitting below the playoff line for a while. They have now clawed their way back to .500 and are in the #7 slot in the conference, but that still leaves them a long way out of first. They do have to be considered a longshot to win the East, but stranger things have happened.
