NBA 2021 Playoffs Betting Predictions for Possible Matches

Written by on May 11, 2021

We are in the final week of the NBA regular season, with the final games set to be played this coming Sunday. While the end is near, the final playoff rankings, which includes the play-in positions, are yet to be set. It will all become clearer as the week progresses, but we thought it might be fun to look at the matchups as they would be if the season ended today, so let’s break it all down, starting with how things look in the Eastern Conference. With that being said, let’s get right to it so you can keep planning your bets against their NBA Playoffs odds.

2021 NBA Betting – Predictions for Possible Playoffs Matchups

Eastern Conference

Before we get into the higher seeds, let’s get things started by looking at the play-in tournament in the East. If you are not already aware, teams 7 through 10 will play to decide which 2 teams join the top 6. As it stands right now, the Boston Celtics would face the Charlotte Hornets in the 7/8 game, with the winner of that one nabbing the #7 seed. The loser of that game would then face the winner of the 9/10 game, which would currently be between the Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards.

The teams who make it out of the play-in tournament would not have an easy road ahead of them in the first round proper. The team that nabs the #8 seed would need to go against the Philadelphia 76ers, who have all but sewn up the Eastern Conference title. That would mean that the #7 seed would be pitted against the Brooklyn Nets, who will be hoping to have James Harden back and healthy in time for the opening round.

The 3/6 matchup would have the Milwaukee Bucks going against the Miami Heat, although the Bucks do still have a shot at stealing the #2 seed. That would leave the 4/5 matchup as the New York Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks.

Western Conference

One of the biggest surprises of the season is that the LA Lakers, who are the defending NBA champions, are in the play-in spot at this stage of the season. They can still move up, but it’s going to be tough, although they will get LeBron back this week. If they are stuck where they are, they would face the Golden State Warriors in the 7/8 game, while the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs would square off in the 9/10 game.

There is still a battle going on for the #1 seed in the West, but the Utah Jazz look to be in good shape with a 1 ½ game lead. You would certainly like their chances against whoever picks up the #8 seed. If the Lakers had to play the 7/8 game and ended up winning, they would more than likely face the Phoenix Suns in the opening round.

The LA Clippers are #3 at the time of writing and would go against the Portland Trail Blazers if the playoffs started now. That would leave the 4/5 matchup being the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks in what could be a fun series.
