The marquee matchup of Tuesday night in the NBA is a national TV game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers. Will LeBron James play? Not likely. How about Jimmy Butler? May have to wait until shortly before tipoff to find out, and the NBA odds will be altered depending.

First Meeting. They split last year, each winning on the road. This will be the 280th meeting between the two franchises dating back to 1950 (198th in the Los Angeles era) and the 172nd since the Sixers moved to Philadelphia prior to the 1963-64 season. The Lakers are 9-6 against the Sixers in their last 15 overall meetings. The two sides have split each of the last three season series. The Lakers were the last team to pick up a single-season series sweep (2014-15). Los Angeles is 12-6 all-time against Philadelphia at Staples Center.
Why Bet on Philadelphia?
Philly lost in Denver on Saturday without stars Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler, but it’s looking good for both to play here. Embiid was just resting Saturday.
Ben Simmons put up another double-double Saturday vs. the Nuggets, as he accounted for 19 points (6-of-17 FGs, 7-of-10 FTs), 12 rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes. It was Simmons’ 32nd double-double of the season, six away from his total a season ago.
Making his third consecutive start, Corey Brewer scored 20 points (7-of-15 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs) with six rebounds, four steals, two assists, and one three-pointer in 32 minutes Saturday. The absence of Butler (wrist) opened up a spot in the starting lineup, and Brewer has performed well for the 76ers. One day after signing his second 10-day contract, the veteran forward established a new season-high in points, rebounds, and steals.
Wilson Chandler (left hamstring tightness) said following Saturday’s game that he expects to play in Tuesday’s game against the Lakers. As a result of the injury, Chandler was unable to play in his return to Denver, where he spent eight seasons before being traded to Philadelphia during the offseason.
The 76ers now hold a record of 12-5 versus Western Conference opponents this season. The winning percentage is the best among Eastern Conference teams when facing a squad from the West. The last time an Eastern Conference team had a greater winning percentage against the West across an entire season was Miami in 2012-13 (.833).
Philadelphia has scored at least 120 points in seven of its last 11 contests and has done so in 20 games this season. The 20 such games are tied for second in the league with Toronto (20) and only trail Golden State (23). The 76ers are averaging an Eastern Conference-best 30.6 points per first quarter this season.

Why Bet on LA Lakers?
The Lakers were 116-102 winners in Phoenix on Sunday despite playing without LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Tyson Chandler. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made 9-of-17 shots en route to 24 points on Sunday, hitting four 3-pointers with six rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes. KCP joined Rajon Rondo, Brandon Ingram, Michael Beasley and Ivica Zubac in the starting lineup tonight. His minutes and shot attempts were exaggerated due to the absence of Kuzma (hip) and LeBron (groin), as well as the matchup vs. a Suns team that ranks 28th in defensive rating (113.2 points allowed per 100 possessions).
Ivica Zubac erupted on Sunday for 24 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in 35 minutes. Zubac joins an auspicious list of Lakers with at least 24 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in a game since 1991. The only other players to hit those numbers are Shaquille O’Neal, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard.
LeBron (groin) was able to go through some contact work at Monday’s practice. James was spotted getting up jumpers following Monday’s practice, and he also participated in a light scrimmage, so he appears to be getting close. He hasn’t yet officially been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the 76ers, but Luke Walton said he was preparing to go with the same starting five he used on Sunday which would indicate that James won’t play.
Kuzma (hip) and Josh Hart (knee) were unable to practice on Monday. Walton said he’s hopeful that Kuzma and Hart will be able to get out there for Tuesday’s game against the 76ers, but he won’t know their status until we’re closer to game-time. Chandler (rest) will be available to play on Tuesday against the 76ers.
