Why Bet on Philadelphia?
The Sixers dropped Game 1 108-95, but perhaps they can take solace in the fact that they also lost Game 1 of their first-round series to the Nets and then won the next four. Then again, the Raptors are way better than the Nets.
Ben Simmons had a solid Game 1 despite his team’s loss, scoring 14 points on 7-of-8 attempts (0-of-1 FTs) with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in 34 minutes. Simmons’ struggles against the Raptors and Kawhi Leonard had been talked about a lot in the build-up to this series as Simmons turned the ball over 24 times in three games that Leonard played vs. Philly during the regular season, but Simmons responded by only turning the ball over twice in Game 1.
Joel Embiid (left knee soreness) struggled in Game 1, scoring just 16 points on 5-of-18 shooting (5-of-6 FTs) with eight rebounds, two assists, and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes of action. Embiid said before the game that his knee still wasn’t where he wanted it to be, but that he was going to increase his workload in the second round. Even with the blowout loss, Embiid broke the 30-minute mark for just the second time in five games this postseason.
Tobias Harris had a productive Game 1 with by scoring 14 points (6-of-17 FGs) with 15 rebounds, six assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers in 38 minutes. He also had five turnovers and was an ugly minus-23. Harris struggled with the length of the Raptors’ defenders, particularly Leonard and Pascal Siakam.
Sixers forward Mike Scott — the hero of Game 4 in Brooklyn – sat Game 1 with a heel contusion and plantar fasciitis in his right foot and was in a walking boot Saturday. Not clear if he will play Game 2 but it doesn’t look good.

Pascal Siakam made 12-of-15 shots for 29 points (2-of-4 FTs) with seven rebounds, one assist, and three 3-pointers in 35 minutes. He and Leonard combined for 74 of the team’s 108 points and looked like the best two players on the floor.
