When we get to this late stage of the NBA season, it’s fun to start thinking about the matchups we might see in the playoffs and how they all might play out. While some of the guesses that we make will almost certainly pan out, we will definitely see some surprises along the way, some of which might come before we even get to the end of the regular season. We have already seen a few surprises to this point, with a couple of teams playing a whole lot better than we expected, and a few others delivering a bit of an underwhelming showing. You could certainly count the Philadelphia 76ers among the teams who are not where we expected them to be, although they are dealing with some pretty horrendous injury issues at the moment. That might make what would have ordinarily been a good matchup into one that swings heavily in the favor of the high-flying Lakers. The Lakers are beginning to open up a lead in the Western Conference and come into this one as overwhelming 12 ½ point home favorites. The point total has been set at 220 ½. Why bet on the Philadelphia 76ers
You do have to feel a certain level of sympathy for the Philadelphia 76ers, as they will be heading into the Staples Center without the services of Embiid, Simmons, and Richardson, which means that they are now relying altogether to heavily on their bench players. The 76ers are certainly not sitting with an awful record, coming into this game at 37-24, but it’s going to be tough to improve on that with their best players sitting out.
