The biggest talking point about the Philadelphia 76ers (1-19) this season was how long they would go before picking up their first win. If you visit this site often, you will know that we predicted that they would get that opening win of the season against the LA Lakers earlier in the week, and that is exactly what happened. There was little tie to celebrate, though, as the 76ers got right back to their losing ways with a loss to the Knicks the evening after beating the Lakers. I have already previewed a few of the Philadelphia games this season, and have thus highlighted just what is wrong with this team through the opening few weeks. In short, it is pretty much everything that is wrong, as scoring and team defense have been major problems from day one. Throw in the off court issues with Jahlil Okafor, who was recently slapped with a 2-gae suspension, and you get the picture of a team that is in total disarray.
Things in Denver (7-13) have not been that much better of late, as the Nuggets surprising victory over the Toronto Raptors earlier this week saw them snap an 8-game losing skid. It’s hard to believe that this team was a game over .500 in the middle part of November. The recent run of bad results has seen Denver slip to the bottom of the Northeast Division standing, and perhaps more importantly, 2 games back of the final playoff spot in the west. Their point production and defensive stats have dropped way off during this losing streak. Right now, this does not look like a team that is capable of getting back into things, but a win over the hapless 76ers would see them build a 2-game win streak which, while modest, would help restore some of the confidence that has been lost over the past couple of weeks.
