Bet On NBA: Portland Trail Blazers Analysis
Portland snapped a five-game skid Sunday with a 113-102 home win over Chicago. The Bulls led by as many as 15 points in the first half. Portland, playing the second of a back-to back, pulled ahead early in the second half, leading by as much as 65-57 on Deni Avdija’s 3-pointer. Ayo Dosunmu made a 3 for the Bulls that tied it at 75 but Chicago wasn’t able to pull in front and the Blazers eventually pulled away.
Shaedon Sharpe
Guard Sharpe came off the bench for the Blazers after coach Chauncey Billups told him his defense needed to improve to return to a starting role. Sharpe finished with 23 points. Avdija dominated with 20 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals. He had been sidelined for the Trail Blazers’ previous three games with a right ankle sprain.
Injuries
Even though Portland recently welcomed Jerami Grant (face) back from a nine-game absence, Avdija stuck in the starting five alongside of him while Sharpe moved to the bench. Sharpe could move back into the starting five if Anfernee Simons (elbow) returns to the lineup Tuesday, but Avdija has made a strong case to continue seeing meaningful minutes. Since Dec. 1, Avdija is averaging 17.0 ppg on .518 FG% and .391 3FG—one of only eight NBA players to reach those numbers during that span (min. 10 GP). Of those eight, Avdija is one of only two to post those numbers in fewer than 30 minutes per game.
Scoot Henderson
Henderson had 25 points, eight assists and seven boards and has had at least 21 points in three of his last four games and at least six assists in all four games. The 20-year-old point guard was heavily involved in the offense with Simons out and was a big part of the 11-point victory as he was +10 in 38 minutes. Deandre Ayton added 15 points and 13 rebounds for his eighth double-double in the last 15 games and 17th this season and is averaging 11.5 points and 9.9 in the past 10.

Chauncey Billups
“We had DA back tonight, we had Deni back tonight and we win plus-14 on the glass,” Billups said. “We don’t come in here many times and are able to say that.” The rebounding led to the Blazers scoring 17 fastbreak points compared to six for the Bulls. “When we can get out and get our guys going and play fast and move the basketball, we’re pretty tough to play against,” Billups added.
Top Players
Among players who have played at least 200 minutes this season, Robert Williams III ranks third in the NBA in blocked shots per 36 minutes, while fellow Trail Blazer Donovan Clingan ranks fourth. But both missed Sunday’s game. The rookie Clingan is not likely back Tuesday but Williams might play. Despite averaging just 16.7 minutes per game, Clingan ranks ninth in the NBA and first among rookies in blocks per game. Portland ranks top 10 in the NBA in both offensive rebounds per game and second chance points per game.

Bet On NBA: Miami Heat Analysis
The Heat snapped a three-game skid on Sunday with a 128-107 blowout of visiting San Antonio. Miami closed the first half with an 11-0 run to take a five-point lead at 46-41, then opened the second with a 25-8 run. Nikola Jovic’s 3-pointer with 5:45 remaining in the third period ended the spurt and put the Heat ahead 71-52 and the game was over. The Heat also ended a three-game slide at home.
Kel’el Ware
Rookie Ware had his best game with 25 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in 34 minutes off the bench. He ended up exceeding starter Bam Adebayo’s minutes total while matching his season high with 25 points to lead the team in Sunday’s rout. Ware has made a serious case for more playing time with the Heat as in January he’s averaging 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.4 blocks while shooting 45.8 percent from three-point land in 20.6 minutes over his last 11 games. The Heat’s bench scored a season-high 73 points on Sunday.
One of the best games of @KelelWare's young career.

Here's what happened ⤵️ pic.twitter.com/lvYWDmwIPM
Erik Spoelstra
Coach Spoelstra praised Ware for committing to becoming a better player on and off the court: “What he has done with his play and ability to impact the game has earned more, and that is what you’re seeing. That’s what you want all players to do: Make us watch you, match us have to play you, make us have to think about not playing you and make us continue to figure out other things and keep you on the court and that’s what he is doing right now.”
The Guards
Miami’s guards also played well as Duncan Robinson had 21 points, Terry Rozier 20 and Tyler Herro 18. Robinson’s points were his most since December 8. He had scored 26 points on 8-of-30 shooting in his previous five games. Rozier reached the 20-point mark for the third time this season and the first since December 21. He had been averaging 9.8 points on 41.4% shooting in his previous six outings.
Tyler Herro
Herro’s streak of games with at least 22 points ended at five on Sunday. He has connected on a 3-pointer in 75-straight regular season games, the longest streak in team history. Herro is just 14 points short of his 1,000th point of the season. If he accomplishes the feat Tuesday, in his 42nd game, it would mark the fewest number of games to 1,000 points in his career. He previously hit the milestone twice, both in his 50th game, first during the 2021-22 season and again in the 2022-23 campaign.
Jimmy ButlerButler had eight points and seven assists in his second game since returning from a seven-game suspension for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Butler still is demanding to be traded by Miami and wants to go to Phoenix. Suns guard Bradley Beal’s no-trade clause remains a major roadblock, though. The star guard can effectively veto any deal, and his agent said earlier this month waiving the no-trade clause hasn’t been discussed.
Miami enters Tuesday having connected on their last 27-straight free throw attempts, just one short of entering Miami’s all-time Top 10 list for consecutive made free throws at 28, which was last accomplished from 11/4/22 – 11/7/22.
^Blazers vs Heat Series History
Portland leads all-time 42-30 but lost the first meeting, 119-98 on Jan. 11 at home. Tyler Herro had 32 points, including seven 3-pointers, and Nikola Jovic added 21 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Heat, who led by 20 points at the half. The Blazers got within 68-64 on Anfernee Simons’ off-balance jumper and free throw in the third but could get no closer. They played without Jerami Grant (facial contusion), Deandre Ayton (calf) and Robert Williams III (illness). Miami has won three straight and seven of the past eight in the series.

2021 Heat vs Trail Blazers Analysis
The Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers will both look to avoid falling any further in their respective conference standings when they square off at AmericanAirlines Arena on Thursday night. One week ago, both teams were in fourth place in their conference standings. Following a pair of losses for the Blazers and four straight defeats for the struggling Heat, Portland sits in sixth place out west while Miami is in fifth place in the east.
Miami will be desperate to take care of business, but Portland will be highly motivated as well. Now, let’s find out where the best betting value lies in this intriguing matchup so you can bet against their NBA odds.

With Trio of Teams Hot On Their Heels, Blazers Need Win!
The Blazers are in sixth place in the Western Conference standings, but a trio of teams are hot on their heels. Dallas is 1.5 games back, San Antonio is two games behind and dangerous Memphis is lurking, three games back.
Portland needs a win after dropping two straight including a narrow 116-112 home loss against Brooklyn on Tuesday night. veteran center Enes Kanter posted a double-double of19 points and 19 rebounds and Damian Lillard added 22 points in the loss. However, Lillard and backcourt mate CJ McCollum shot a combined 10-for-35 from the field in the loss.
“I think both teams played real good basketball, both teams competed throughout the beginning of the game, throughout the whole fourth quarter. They just made some extra couple of shots at the end of the quarter,” Kanter said.
The Trail Blazers have split their last six games. The Trail Blazers are 10th in scoring (114.4 ppg), but 27th in points allowed (11
Damian Lillard is averaging a team-high 30.1 points and 7.7 assists per game while CJ McCollum is averaging 23.8 points and 3.8 rebounds. Portland has gone an encouraging 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a road underdog and a stellar 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 road games against a team with a winning home record.
Heat Desperate For A Win In Crowded Eastern Conference!
Miami should be desperate to pick up a win in this contest. The Heat are sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, but the Knicks and Hawks both have identical 22-22 records while Boston (21-23) is a game back and Indiana (20-23) is 1.5 games back.
The Heat have dropped four straight including a 110-100 home loss against Phoenix on Tuesday night. Young combo guard Kendrick Nunn scored a team-high 25 points for Miami, but Jimmy Butler was held to 14 points and Bam Adebayo, 16 points.
“We’ll keep plugging away until we find the right solutions,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We’re certainly better than what we’ve shown over the last four games on the offensive end.”
Miami averages 106.2 points per game to rank an uninspiring 27th in scoring while limiting the opposition to 107.6 points per game defensively (4th). Jimmy Butler is averaging a team-high 21.3 points and 7.3 assists while Bam Adebayo is averaging 19.2 points and 9.5 rebounds. The Heat are 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 Thursday games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
Expert Analysis and Prediction
The Trail Blazers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall, but Miami has gone 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Portland recorded a 115-109 home win the last time these two met on Feb. 9 to snap a three-game losing streak in this series. These two have split their last six meetings both straight-up and against the spread. I’m going with the Blazers to get it done because of their superior offense. Miami has only one 20-point scorer while Portland has two – and the deeper bench as well.
Pick: Portland 111 Miami 106
