Clippers vs Grizzlies NBA Odds & Game Preview

Written by on December 5, 2018

Los Angeles Clippers were supposed to be a borderline playoff team this year – maybe – and not contending for the best record in the West. They visit another early surprise on Wednesday in the Memphis Grizzlies, who opened as very slight NBA Betting favorites.

How to Bet Clippers vs Grizzlies NBA Odds & Game Info

Season Series

Teams have played once, with the Clippers winning 112-107 in OT at home on Nov. 23. Mike Conley had 19 points and 11 assists before fouling out with just under three minutes remaining in regulation. Danilo Gallinari made three free throws to tie the game for the Clippers with 1.6 seconds left. Montrezl Harrell totaled 22 points and 11 rebounds off the bench to lead the Clippers, while Gallinari finished with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Why Bet on LA Clippers?

L.A. continues to surprise at 16-7 and won a thriller in New Orleans on Monday, 129-126. Tobias Harris scored 27 points, hitting 10-of-16 shots and 6-of-6 free throws with six boards, one assist and two steals. Harris was just named the Western Conference Player of the Month, putting up averages of 21.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.4 steals, 0.5 blocks and 2.1 triples on 52.8% shooting in that span.

Avery Bradley scored 15 points with three boards, two assists, one block, one steal, and one triple. This was his first game of the season with at least one block, one steal and one triple, but at least he’s heating up with averages of 14.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.3 triples over his last three outings.

The Clippers scored 77 points in the first half of Monday’s win, tied for the team’s third-most in the second half since half and quarter stats were first consistently kept in 2002-03. The effort marked the second-largest scoring total of any team in the first half against the Pelicans in their franchise’s history.

Injury wise, Jerome Robinson (foot) and Luc Mbah a Moute (knee) have been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Grizzlies. Not a huge deal on either.

The Clippers have won 12 of their last 15 games, including 10 of their last 12. Lou Williams and Harrell rank 1st & 3rd in the NBA in bench scoring, respectively, and are the only set of teammates averaging 15+ points off the bench this season. L.A. reserves lead the NBA with 53.5 ppg this season. Harrell has scored 14+ points in a career-high 12 straight games off the bench, the NBA’s longest active streak. The Clippers lead the NBA in free-three throws made (23.6) and attempted (29.3) per game this season.

Why Bet on Memphis?

The Grizzlies (13-9) have lost four of five after falling 103-95 at Philadelphia on Sunday. Marc Gasol (right knee soreness) finished Sunday’s loss with 12 points on 4-of-14 shooting, four boards, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 38 minutes. Gasol managed to hold Joel Embiid in check with 15 points on 4-of-13 shooting.

Jaren Jackson Jr. made 5-of-10 field goals and 6-of-6 free throws for 17 points on Sunday, adding three rebounds, three blocks, one steal, and one 3-pointer in 23 minutes. Prior to the game, Grizzlies coach J.B. Bickerstaff offered high praise for his young star, comparing JJJ to Kevin Garnett. “At a young age, the ability to put the ball on the floor, make the face-up jumper, the defensive acumen that he has, I think you can start there,” Bickerstaff said. JaMychal Green led the Grizzlies’ second unit with 14 points in 25 minutes on Sunday.

The NBA Odds favor Memphis for Clippers vs Grizzlies on Wednesday Night.

Joakim Noah signed a one-year, $1.73 million prorated minimum deal with Memphis on Tuesday. The addition of Noah will allow Memphis to cut back on Marc Gasol’s playing time. Gasol is currently averaging 35.7 minutes per game, his most since 2011-12.

Memphis has given up an average of 113.0 points over the last five games after allowing just 100.2 points in its first 17 contests this season. The Grizzlies have surrendered 100 points in all of the last five contests after doing so just nine times prior this season. Jackson Jr. has been a bright spot for the Grizzlies over the last five games. He has averaged 18.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.80 blocks with .579 FG/.500 3P/.900 FT shooting splits over his last five contests, including a career-high 36 points two games ago on Nov. 30 at Brooklyn.

The Grizzlies rank sixth in the NBA in three-point percentage (.368). The franchise’s highest league rank ever in three-point percentage is sixth in 2006-07 and 1997-98.
