Los Angeles vs Brooklyn NBA Betting Preview

It sometimes takes an unexpected player to step up and put in a stellar performance in order for a team’s fortunes to change. That is exactly what the Brooklyn Nets got from Andrea Bargnani the other night when he came off the bench to spark a 4th quarter comeback versus the Philadelphia 76ers. The Nets will be hoping for more of the same when they play host to the LA Clippers on Saturday night.

Betting on the Nets

Prior to that win, it was beginning to look as though Bargnani was going to have a hard time adjusting to life in a Nets (7-15) uniform. There certainly wasn’t too much expected of him after he returned from injury to take the bench against the 76ers, but it was his 13 points in the final quarter that helped Brooklyn come up with a much-needed win. The Nets have now put together a very modest 2-game win streak, thanks in large part to the ply of Thaddeus Young, who has 4 straight double-doubles to his name. Brooklyn are beginning to get some solid play out of their key starters, and while they are still some ways off the pace in the Eastern Conference playoff race, they are beginning to look like a team that is going to be tough to beat in the coming weeks. They are going to have to tighten up defensively, especially against the likes of the Clippers, a team that knows how to rack up the points.

Betting on the Clippers

After a strong start to the season, the Clippers (13-10) seemed to fall into a swoon that saw them go 3-8 over the course of a few weeks. They seem to have broken out of that now, though, and are a solid 7-3 in their last 10 games. They are in the midst of a 5-game road trip where they had to be happy with winning the opening 2 games. That joy was a little short lived, though, as they fell 83-80 to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night, delivering their poorest offensive display of the season so far. That number was certainly a surprise for a team that is averaging 102.3 PPG this season, but it also makes you think that is was just one of those nights as opposed to a sign that the offense might be starting to wane. The Clippers, and Blake Griffin in particular, are going to feel as though they have a point to prove now, and that is not good news for the Brooklyn Nets.

What Should You Consider Before Placing Your Bets?

The last 8 meetings between these two have ended with the home team picking up the win. While that is a trend that is hard to ignore, it is one that I believe will be broken by a Clippers win on Saturday.
