It’s one of the best matchups of the NBA’s early season on Wednesday night when Golden State, the team with the best record in basketball, meets one of the few teams to realistically have a shot at beating the Warriors in the playoffs in the Los Angeles Clippers. The Warriors are road favorites on NBA odds.

Why Bet On the Warriors?

How good has Kevin Durant been this season with the Warriors? He made scoring 20 points look easy against the Suns during a 138-109 win on Saturday, adding four rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and one 3-pointer. He needed just seven attempts from the field and made all nine from the line with just one turnover — that’s only a 16.2 usage rate. Durant’s 91.2 true shooting percentage tonight boosted him to 68.0 on the season, which moves him back into the top spot on the season. Durant is averaging 27.3 points per game (7th in the NBA) while taking 17.0 shot attempts per game. Since 1947-48, only five times has a player finished a season averaging at least 27 points while taking under 18 field goal attempts. Durant is shooting a career-best 56.2 percent from the field this season. He has shot 50 percent or better from the field in 15 contests this season, including nine games in which he had a field goal percentage of 60 or higher. Durant leads the Warriors in scoring, free throws made and attempted, total rebounds and total blocks and is second in total steals, and third in 3-pointers made and assists. He is the only player in NBA to be ranked in Top 10 in points per game and field goal percentage. Stephen Curry needed just 30 minutes to score 31 points against the Suns on Saturday, adding two rebounds, two assists, one steal and five 3-pointers. He went crazy in the third quarter with 20 points. This was the 16th time in his career he scored at least 20 in a quarter with nine of those 16 coming in the third. Curry has been incredible in the second half at home, posting a 71.1 true shooting percentage in those 10 games. The Warriors lead the NBA in field goal percentage, shooting 50.2 percent from the field. Golden State has shot 50 percent or better from the field in 11 games this season, a league best. Golden State shot an NBA-season- high 62.8 percent from the field (49-78 FG) in a win over the Suns on December 3. The Warriors are trying to become the first team since the 2013-14 Miami Heat (.501 FG%) to finish a season shooting 50 or better from the field.

Why Bet On the Clippers?

Los Angeles might have been caught looking ahead to this game on Sunday in returning from a long road trip and losing 111-102 at home to Indiana. The Pacers came back from 15 points down in the first quarter and held on after the Clippers got within four in the fourth. Blake Griffin had 24 points and 16 rebounds for the Clippers, whose two-game winning streak was snapped in their return to Staples Center. They went 3-3 on their recent six-game road trip, including a 91-70 loss at Indiana. Los Angeles led by 15 in the first quarter and appeared on its way to victory, especially when the Pacers missed 15 of 22 shots. DeAndre Jordan had 15 rebounds for the Clippers. Chris Paul added 18 points and 11 assists. There was a visible fatigue factor as the Clippers committed 20 turnovers and continually settled for jump shots while shooting 44.4% and making 10 of 30 three-pointers (33.3%). Clippers shooting guard J.J. Redick made only five of 15 shots on the way to 15 points. “We didn’t look like we had it tonight,” Griffin said after making 10 of 21 shots. “You could tell with the types of shots we were missing and the types of turnovers we had. It was everybody.”

Golden State at LA Clippers Betting Pick: LA Clippers

The Warriors swept the Clippers last season and have won six straight overall in the series. But I like LA here on NBA odds.
