Houston At Charlotte NBA Spread, Free Pick & TV Info

Written by on February 8, 2017

Even with a good portion of the NBA betting season still to come, it’s fair to say that we already know who the top 2 or 3 teams in each conference will be. There really hasn’t been much in the way of changes at the top since the opening tip-off, and the chances of one of the big guns going on a downward spiral seems pretty unlikely at this point. Where the real fun is at the moment is in the battles for the final couple of playoff spots in each of the conferences. Over in the East, the Charlotte Hornets are on the outside looking in at the top 8, but only by the slightest margin possible. The problem here is that there are a bunch of teams hot on their tail, meaning that a loss could drop them back a couple of spots, just like that. Charlotte will try to improve their standing on Thursday night when they host the Houston Rockets at the Spectrum Center in what is sure to be a very tough outing.

Why bet on the Houston Rockets

The Rockets ended the year on a run that was nothing short of spectacular. They tore through the month of December, but have had a tougher time to start off the New Year. Yes, they are still winning and maintaining their number 3 seed, but just not at the pace they were setting a month earlier. Houston has gone just 5-5 in their last 10 games, but they are coming into this one with back to back wins under their belt, and they are once again looking like a team poised to go on another big run. They already have a 121-114 win over the Hornets this season, and have come away with the win in each of their last 5 visits to Charlotte.

Why bet on the Charlotte Hornets

If the Hornets could play as well on the road as they do at home, this would not be a team sitting on the outside of the playoff picture. Charlotte are a dismal 10 games under .500 on the road, but are a respectable 16-10 at home. They have not had a good record versus Houston down through the years, and have in fact only picked up a single win against them in their last 12 meetings. It’s fair to say that the Hornets have not been at their best when facing good teams this season, going just 8-10 SU versus teams with a .500 record or better. This looks as though it will be an uphill battle for them, but home court advantage may play in their favor.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I don’t expect this to be a blowout, and actually think that the Rockets are going to have to work hard for the win. I like this one to be close throughout, with the Rockets putting it away down the stretch.
