The home team is 3-0 in the Jazz-Clippers Western Conference semifinal series and the Clippers are solid home favorites for Monday’s Game 4 as they look to tie up the series at 2-2. Will Jazz All-Star point guard Mike Conley play? Most likely not but it could come down to a game-time call.

The Jazz dropped Game 3 against the Clippers 132-106. Donovan Mitchell scored a team-high 30 points in the loss with five rebounds and four assists. Mitchell’s five made three-pointers made it four straight playoff games with at least that many, joining only Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to accomplish such a feat.

However, Mitchell limped off the court after a driving layup attempt with 7 minutes, 5 seconds remaining. He briefly went into the tunnel before returning to the Jazz bench. He would not return with an ankle injury. A right ankle sprain sidelined Mitchell for the final 16 games of the regular season and the Jazz’s playoff opener.

Mitchell says he’ll be playing in Game 4. He has averaged 32.3 points per game during the playoffs despite dealing with persistent pain in the ankle.

“It’s when I land,” Mitchell said. “It’s been just trying to manage it. I don’t really know what else to tell you; I don’t want to say too much. It was just the landing, but I’m good. I’ll be ready for Game 4.”

Mitchell is now averaging 28.5 points per contest through 30 career playoff games. The only active player who averaged more points per contest through their first 30 playoff games is Anthony Davis. Mitchell has scored 855 points in his first 30 career playoff games which is the 11th most by any player through their first 30 career postseason games in NBA history.

Rudy Gobert had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss, his seventh double-double this postseason. He also extended his streak of contests with at least one blocked shot to 11 games, including each of his eight playoff contests. NBA Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson struggled in hitting just 5-for-16 for 14 points. He was minus-24 in his 31 minutes.

Utah has not had All-Star point guard Mike Conley available in this series with a mild right hamstring strain and he’s questionable for Monday. There also has been no word on Conley even returning to practice yet so he probably won’t play. Joe Ingles has been starting in his place.

Why Bet on LA Clippers? | NBA Betting Odds

Down 2-0 in the series, the Clippers were desperate in Game 3 and that desperation translated into one of the better games any team has played during the postseason. Los Angeles’ shot-making was absurd as the Clippers made 56 percent of their field goal attempts and went 19-of-36 from 3-point range.

Coach Ty Lue made a change to his starting lineup in Game 3. After playing Nicolas Batum 21 and 27 minutes in Games 1 and 2, Lue started the veteran forward alongside Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson and gave him 35 minutes of action. Batum rewarded Lue’s trust with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting (4 of 6 on 3-pointers), finishing a team-high plus-24. With the 6-foot-8 Batum replacing the 7-0 Ivica Zubac as the de facto center, Jazz 7-footer Rudy Gobert, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year for a third time in his career, couldn’t simply patrol the paint.

The Clippers also saw more of Terance Mann, who was a plus-21 in 22 minutes after playing just nine minutes combined through the first two games against the Jazz. LA was just consistently better on both ends of the floor in Game 3 and forced Utah into 16 turnovers, scoring 24 points off of these mistakes.

George didn’t play all that well in the first two games but had 31 points in Game 2. George found his rhythm and got hot, burying 6 of 10 3-pointers, four coming in the first half while playing with even more confidence on his home floor. It was his first 30-point game since April 23.

“Oh, we’re a different team,” Lue said of when George has his offense going early. “We know that. It’s been like that all season long. He’s been great. You know, he had one bad game, whatever, but people are going to have bad games.”

Leonard had 34 points, 12 rebounds and five assists while shooting 14 of 24. It was his fourth double-double in 10 games this postseason. Leonard averaged a relatively modest 22 points and 5.5 rebounds in the first two games of the series in Utah.
