Jazz vs Warriors NBA Betting Lines & Game Analysis

Written by on February 12, 2019

Unless Utah and Golden State meet in the playoffs, which is quite possible, Tuesday night will be the Jazz’s last-ever game in Oakland with the Warriors set to move to San Francisco next season. These teams have split two meetings this season in Salt Lake City, and Golden State is solidly favored at the latest NBA Odds.

Season Series

Tied 1-1. On Oct. 19, the Warriors won 124-123. The Jazz scored 81 points in the first half, the fourth time in team history that the team has recorded 80-plus points in any half and a franchise record for points scored in the first half. Yet they still lost. Former Jazz player Jonas Jerebko tipped in the winning basket with 0.3 seconds left. Kevin Durant had 38 points.

In the last meeting on Dec. 19, the Jazz were 108-103 winners. Jae Crowder tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, and Rudy Gobert had 17 points and 15 rebounds. Utah held Golden State to 40 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent from the perimeter. The biggest stops came in the final two minutes when the Warriors missed three out of four shot attempts — including a pair of 3-pointers that could have forced overtime.

Why Bet on Utah?

The Utah Jazz won their second in a row on Saturday, 125-105 over San Antonio. The Jazz shot 52.2 percent from the field and improved to 43-1 in their last 44 home games when making at least half their shots. Royce O’Neale, who spent his first extended time at power forward, tied his season high with 17 points and made all four of his 3-point attempts to help the Jazz win for the third time in their last four games.

Rudy Gobert dominated against the Spurs in scoring 21 points with 13 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in 31 minutes. He made 8-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line. Since being a snub from the All-Star Game, Gobert averaged 18.0 points, 12.8 boards, 2.0 dimes, 1.0 steals and 2.3 treys on 69.7% from the field.

Gobert is averaging a career-high 15.1 points on a league-leading .650 shooting percentage, 12.8 rebounds (fifth in the NBA), 2.2 blocks (fourth in the NBA) and 2.2 assists in 31.6 minutes. Gobert is the first player to average 15+ points, 10+ rebounds and 2+ blocks on .600 shooting since Dwight Howard did so in the 2009-10 season. Currently, Gobert is first in the NBA in real defensive plus-minus (5.3), first in effective field goal percentage (.650), second in true shooting percentage (.671) and third in total win shares (9.6) (min. 50 GP).

Ricky Rubio tallied 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and didn’t turn the ball over. Derrick Favors came off the bench in the second half against the Spurs, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 19 minutes. Jae Crowder started the second half for Derrick Favors against the Spurs on Saturday, finishing with nine points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Why Bet on Golden State?

The Golden State Warriors found themselves down 19 at home to Miami on Sunday but won 120-118, their 15th win in the past 16 games. Miami overcame an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the game on a 3-pointer by Justise Winslow. Josh Richardson and Dwyane Wade then had back-to-back steals and layups to put the Heat up 118-115 with 51.5 seconds to play.

Kevin Durant hit a game-tying 3-pointer in the final minute as part of a 39-point night and DeMarcus Cousins made two free throws with 5.4 seconds to play for the winning margin. Durant hit 16-of-24 shots, 1-of-7 3-pointers and 6-of-10 free throws to go with six rebounds, four assists, and a block. In the last four games, Durant is shooting 63.9 percent from the field. If you take away his 3-point attempts, Durant is shooting 75.6 percent (34-45 2P) from 2-point range in that span.

The Heat was upset because they believed Durant double-dribbled before that late attempt and that there was a 26-8 free throw disparity in Golden State’s favor.

Jazz vs Warriors should be an easy victory for Golden State.

Cousins hit 2-of-6 shots for seven points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in 27 minutes. “He’s single-handedly negated the dog days,” Coach Steve Kerr said. “More than anything, he just energizes us. He’s also run the floor a lot harder than I thought he could.” Klay Thompson added 29 points and six triples, and Stephen Curry added 25 points and five 3-pointers in the comeback win.

The Warriors have scored at least 100 points in 26 straight games, their longest streak since a 36-gamer in 2016-17. Andre Iguodala (left hamstring tightness) didn’t play vs. the Heat on Sunday. Kerr said that Iguodala’s hamstring flared up on him towards the end of Friday’s game, and they just want to be cautious with him.

The Warriors have dished out 30 or more assists in 12 of the last 15 games, including five of the last six. The Warriors have scored at least 100 points in each of the last 26 games, the longest since they had 36-straight games of at least 100 points in 2016-17.
