The race for the Western Conference crown in the NBA is realistically down to 2 teams, and while that may seem a little anti-climactic to some, it’s not altogether unexpected. If you set the title race aside, there are a ton of other intriguing little battles taking place in the West right now. There is a scramble to get into one of the top 4 positions, which would mean home court advantage in the opening round, and there is the usual titanic struggle going on for the final couple of playoff spots. Wednesday night will see a pair of teams that are engaged in those respective fights go head to head. The LA Clippers are currently occupying the #5 seed in the West, and you can bet that they would like to move up before the season is over. Down nearer the bottom, you have the Minnesota Timberwolves on the outside looking in, but still close enough to have a chance to win a playoff spot.
