With the NBA season rolling on towards its eventual end, it is now really beginning to look as though the top teams in each conference are all but decided. Oh sure, we could still see a collapse, or a team come from nowhere to make a charge at the #1 seed, but that is a longshot. The Milwaukee Bucks are far and away the best team in the East, while the LA Lakers are now on a run that is seeing them put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack. If those two do indeed stay on top of their respective conferences, then the goal of every other team in the playoff hunt is to avid them for as long as possible once the postseason begins. The Dallas Mavericks would, given their current standing, steer clear of the Lakers in the opening round, but they need to climb higher of they are to delay the inevitable matchup. Dallas will try to maintain their current run of good form with a tough trip to Miami on Friday night. The Heat are favored by 2 ½ on home court, with the point total set at 230 ½. Why bet on the Dallas Mavericks
The #7 seed will absolutely not be where the Dallas Mavericks want to end the season, but with a 7 ½ game lead over the Memphis Grizzlies, they are almost certainly not going to drop any lower than that. The good news for Dallas is that they are in a position where they can move up and improve their lot, as they are now just a single game back of the #5 spot in the Western Conference. The Mavericks as doing all they can to help their own cause and are heading into Miami on a modest 2 game winning streak that has seem them move to 6-4 in their last 10 games. This is a team that has more wins on the road than at home, going 20-9 in road games this season. They have also had success against teams for the East, going 15-9 in those outings.

The Miami Heat have a very comfortable lead in their division, but that may have made them a little lax over the past couple of weeks. Miami is down in the #4 seed in the conference and it is looking more and more as though that might be where they land when the regular season is done. They are coming into this one having lost 2 in a row and are now just 3-7 on their last 10 games. While all seems to be going south for the Heat at the moment, we cannot forget just how good they have been at home, going 23-4 in their own building. Where they have not been great is in games against the Western Conference, as they are a game below .500 at 12-13 in those matchups.
