Mavericks vs Spurs Season Series
Mavericks lead 2-0, winning both at home. Prior to this season, the Spurs had won five straight, 15 of the previous 17, and 29 of the previous 35 regular-season meetings between the two clubs. San Antonio had also won two straight and 11 of the previous 14 regular-season showdowns in Dallas prior to going 0-2 at American Airlines Center this year. The Spurs have taken four straight and 16 of the last 17 regular season matchups in San Antonio. The Mavericks’ only road win against the Spurs in that span was a 105-101 come-from-behind victory on Jan. 29, 2017. The Mavs trailed by 10 in that one but came back to defeat the Spurs, 105-101. It snapped the Spurs’ streak of 117 straight wins in home games that they led by at least 10 points at the half.
Why Bet on Dallas?
The Mavericks won for the third time in four games Monday, 139-123 over Minnesota and covering the 14-point spread. Game was largely over at the half when the Mavs had 81 points. Those were the most the Mavs have scored in any half this season and the most they’ve scored in any half since April 5, 2009 when they tallied 81 points in the first half of a game against the Phoenix Suns.
When the second unit helped extend the Dallas lead to as high as 135-108 in the second half, that convinced Coach Carlisle to keep his starters chained to the bench in the fourth quarter. Starters Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dorian Finney-Smith didn’t play in the fourth.
Doncic (right ankle soreness) returned from a one-game absence to score 20 points vs. the Wolves on Monday with nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 25 minutes. Doncic told reporters Monday night that his ankle is not 100% healed. Porzingis (left knee, injury recovery) returned from a one-game absence to score 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting with nine rebounds and three assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. led all Mavs with 23 points in 28 minutes.
Dallas played without key reserve guard Jalen Brunson with a right shoulder sprain and he’ll miss at least the next four games. Brunson is averaging 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 17.9 minutes per game in 57 appearances this season. Delon Wright scored 16 points in 22 minutes vs. Minnesota and should continue to see more time with Brunson out.

Why Bet on San Antonio?
The Spurs ended their long Rodeo Road Trip on Sunday with a dud, losing 131-103 in Oklahoma City. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 22 points and 13 rebounds, Steven Adams added 21 points and 14 rebounds and the Thunder rolled with their largest victory margin ever against San Antonio. Eight Oklahoma City players scored in double figures — a first for the team since moving from Seattle in 2008. The Spurs led 45-36 in the second quarter before the Thunder went on a 16-0 run and that’s when the game changed.
DeMar DeRozan hit just 4-of-12 shots for 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes in the loss. DeRozan has scored fewer than 20 points in three straight games but is at least playing again after missing a couple games due to back spasms. LaMarcus Aldridge hit just 3-of-10 shots and missed all five of his 3-pointers for eight points, three rebounds and two assists in just 21 minutes in the loss.
Dejounte Murray missed all seven of his shots and failed to score on Sunday, finishing with zero points, seven assists and a steal in 21 minutes. Murray came in averaging 19.8 points on 60 percent over his last four games.
The Spurs are averaging franchise bests of 10.4 three-pointers made and 28.4 attempts per game. The Spurs lead the NBA in fewest turnovers and have turned the ball over 10-or-fewer times in 17 games this season, which is tied for the seventh-most such games in the league. The Spurs rank fourth in free throw percentage at 80.5 and have finished a season shooting over 80.0 percent from the line only six times in franchise history, with the record of 81.9 percent in 2018-19.
San Antonio’s reserves rank 4th in the NBA in bench points per game (44.6), 6th in rebounds (18.6) and 3rd in assists (10.0). The Spurs also rank first in blocks (2.6), 4th in field goals made (16.1) and 5th in three-pointers made (5.5).
