Every team in the NBA heads into the season with hopes of winning a championship, but there are some baby steps that need to be taken to get there. It all begins with winning the division an getting a playoff seeding that makes the path the title that little bit easier. The divisional races are now very much in full swing, but there is still time to get in and wager on who might win each of the 6 divisions. Let’s take a look at the current NBA odds and standings in each.
NBA Betting | Odds to Win Each Divisional Championship
Atlantic Division
The Boston Celtics might argue that they will eventually have a say in how this division plays out, but at the moment, this one looks to be heading into a 2-horse race between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets. The 76ers (+145) are a game and a half up at the top right now, but the Brooklyn Nets look like a legitimate championship team and are currently sitting at +105 to win the division. I think the Nets pull this one out.
Central Division
The Milwaukee Bucks have dominated this division for the past couple of seasons and came in as form favorites to do so again. They are at the top again, but they are not lighting it up like they have this past couple of seasons, leading the Indiana Pacers by a game and a half. You have to still like them to pull away, but at odds of -2500, maybe it worth taking a shot on the Pacers at +850.
Southeast Division
This is the division that no team seems to want to win, as none of the teams are currently sitting above .500. The Charlotte Hornets (+550) have a 1-game lead over the Atlanta Hawks (+275), while the Miami Heat (-150), who were in the NBA Finals last season, are down in 3rd. The Heat should find a way back, but this is a division where picking a longshot might just pay off.
Northwest Division
Yes, there is still a lot of basketball to be played this season, but it is tough to imagine the Utah Jazz gassing the 5 ½ game lead they have already built up. This is a team that is currently on a 9-game winning streak while holding the best record in the NBA. They look like a sure bet at -1400.
Pacific Division
This was one that we all thought would be close given that both the LA Lakers (-170) and LA Clippers (+150) were among the favorites to win the NBA Finals this season. They are both certainly in the mix to win the division, but I don’t think that anyone saw the Phoenix Suns (+1700) still hanging around at this stage of the season.
Southwest Division
As it stands right now, the only team in this division showing any type of consistency are the San Antonio Spurs, who currently have a 2 ½ game lead. The Spurs are a good bet at +225 right now, as they are 3 ½ games up on the Dallas Mavericks, who are currently in as the favorite to win the division at odds of +110.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
