NBA News & Rumors: Andre Drummond Pretended By the Lakers & the Nets

Written by on March 23, 2021

There are just two more days left before the NBA trade deadline hits, so it is perhaps not surprising that all the news this week is about potential trades. We have already seen some moves happen over the past couple of weeks, but the rumor mill is still turning, with several big names expected to head to a new location in the next couple of days. We are going to do out best to cover all the latest news but be aware that things move quickly at this time of year, so news and rumors reported today could be out of date tomorrow. Let’s get right to it so you may continue betting against their NBA odds.

2021 NBA Betting News & Rumors March 23rd Edition

Andre Drummond is a player that is garnering a lot of attention as the deadline approaches, but his suitors may be somewhat limited given the salary that Drummond is earning at the moment. The Celtics, Knicks, Mavericks, and Bulls are all reportedly interested in offering up the second-round pick that the Cavaliers are looking for in any deal involving Drummond, but rumor has it that both the Lakers and the Nets are sitting in the wings waiting to swoop. Drummond may be willing to negotiate a lesser salary if it means he lands with a team in with a legitimate shot of winning the title.

A situation worth keeping an eye on is happening in Orlando right now, where Aaron Gordon has reportedly asked the Magic for a trade. The front-runners at the moment appear to be the Houston Rockets, and while they have already had talks with the Magic, there is no guarantee that they will be the team to land Gordon. There are other teams rumored to be in the mix, with the Celtics, Trail Blazers, Nuggets, and Timberwolves also said to be looking to make a deal to land Gordon. We’ll see how this one plays out over the next couple of days.

One of the biggest names still remaining on the trading block is Kyle Lowry, which is assuming that the Toronto Raptors are ready to move on from one of their best players. The rumor is that Lowry is open to a trade and would like to land with a team that is going to potentially compete for a championship this season. The Heat are said to be interested in making a deal and Lowry has listed Miami as his preferred destination. The Clippers and 76ers are rumored to be in the conversation, too, so this is going to be another interesting situation to keep an eye on.

We close out this week’s news and rumors with a sad story out of the NBA. Elgin Baylor, who plied his trade with the LA Lakers, passed away this week at the age of 86. Baylor won several honors, including Rookie of the Year, in his time with the Lakers and was voted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1977. He also had his #22 jersey retired by the Lakers.
