2021 NBA Betting News & Rumors July 26th Edition

Will Ben Simmons Be on the Move?

Rumor has it that numerous teams have contacted the Philadelphia 76ers about Simmons. Cleveland, Minnesota, Sacramento, Indiana, and Toronto are some of the teams that supposedly have asked about Simmons. It sounds like the Sixers want an all-star caliber player or a very high draft pick in return for the former first overall pick in the draft. Daryl Morey is known for making moves, so if he gets something in return that he likes, we could see Simmons wearing another uniform very soon.

Watch out for the Lakers

It is being rumored that the Lakers are in pursuit of a third scoring option or a high-profile point guard to go with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers don’t have a lot of draft capital to deal, but it’s being made known that Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are available.

Dennis Schroder didn’t seem to be the answer last year for the Lakers. He’s a free agent, and his contract demands seem to be very high. With the Lakers looking for more star power, they could be in the market for Chris Paul if he becomes available. It’s not likely that Kuzma and KCP would be enough to obtain a star player, but we’ll see how the market goes.

Kyle Lowry is another name to watch for. Lowry is a free agent, and he would love to come and try and win a title with the Lakers. It’s also being rumored that DeMar DeRozan would love to return to his hometown to finish his career with the Lakers. DeRozan is also a free agent. We’ll see if the Lakers can sign those two to below-market deals, as they could have some cap issues.

Draft Moves

The Houston Rockets are trying to persuade the Detroit Pistons to trade the top pick in the draft. Houston currently sits right behind the Pistons in this year’s draft. Houston has numerous picks that they’ve attained in the trades that they’ve made, but we’re not sure if that’s enough to entice the Pistons. As of now, it sounds like the Pistons are going to take Cade Cunningham with the first selection, but lots of things can happen between now and the draft.

The Golden State Warriors are also trying to make some moves. They have the 7th & 14th picks in this year’s draft, and it also sounds like they’d be willing to include last year’s second overall pick, James Wiseman, in a deal to either move up in the draft or for a top player. The Warriors know that their championship window is closing, and they’re in win-now mode. They want an impact player to team with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green so that they can make one more run at an NBA title.
