We are at the stage of the NBA season where teams have a very good idea of their strengths and weaknesses. For those who believe they have a shot at taking a run at a championship, the approach of the trade deadline is an opportunity to plug any perceived holes. With a little over a week to go, teams are now evaluating who might be out there and willing to make a deal. When you get this close to the deadline, the rumors begin to fly. Who will take a shot at adding a piece or two to improve the team and who will stand pat? Let’s take a look at some of the news and rumors swirling in the NBA right now so you can keep betting against their NBA odds.

Most teams tend to stay pretty tight-lipped about their intentions as the trade deadline approaches, but that is not the case with the Dallas Mavericks. Mark Cuban has already come out and said that while he is willing to swing a deal, he will only do so if the player that they are getting is a legitimate start player. Cuban has said that he would sooner stay the course than make smaller like for like moves that won’t really make a huge impact. It’s not clear if they have a specific player in mind or are simply waiting to see if someone lands in their lap.
It looked for a while as though Bradley Beal might be on his way out of Washington, but the likelihood is that he will now be staying put. That, though, does not mean that the Wizards will not be active in the lead up to the trade deadline, as word out of the nation’s capital is that they are interested in shopping some of their younger players. They don’t really have a ton to offer on that front, so if they do decide to swing a deal, they are probably also going to need to include draft picks.
The Portland Trail Blazers are sitting farther down the Western Conference than expected and are looking to shake things up a little by swinging a trade. The man that they appear to have their eye on is Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic. Gordon has been hampered by an ankle injury over the past month or so, but when healthy, he is a player that could certainly add something to this Trail Blazers team. It’s not a move that will go uncontested, though, as the rumor is that the Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in landing Gordon.
Speaking of the Portland Trail Blazers, they got some good news this week, as they expect CJ McCollum to return from injury on Tuesday night. McCollum has been out since mid-January and you have to believe that his return will help this Portland team in a big way. The Trail Blazers might well be one to keep an eye on in the second half of the season, although they do have a job on their hands to close the gap in the Western Conference.
