Easily the marquee matchup in the NBA on Wednesday is the Russell Westbrook vs. Kevin Durant show, otherwise known as Thunder at Warriors. It’s the second time the former All-Star teammates have squared off since KD left Oklahoma City this past offseason in free agency. His Warriors will be solid home NBA betting favorites.

Why Bet on Oklahoma City?

Westbrook entered this week with 20 triple-doubles, already more than he had all of last season. In Sunday’s win over Sacramento, he had a 57th career triple-double. Westbrook is three assists shy of passing Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird for fifth on the NBA’s all-time list. As of Monday, Westbrook had amassed averages of 30.9 points (1st in the NBA), 10.7 rebounds (11th in the NBA) and 10.5 assists (2nd in the NBA). By reaching these benchmarks, Westbrook is now the second player in NBA history (Oscar Robertson) to average 30+ points, 10+ rebounds and 10+ assists through the first 40+ games of a NBA season. Westbrook is one of just three players (Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson) to record 20+ triple doubles in a single season. Westbrook’s 20 triple-doubles are now the most since Chamberlain in 1967-68 (31 triple-doubles). Chamberlain was also the last player to record 18 or more triple doubles in back-to-back seasons (1966-67 and 1967-68). Will OKC have starting center Steven Adams for this game? He sat out Monday’s game at the Clippers with a concussion. Adams won’t be able to return until he clears the league-mandated concussion protocol testing. Enes Kanter likely will start as long as Adams is out. Adams is averaging 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.20 steals in 29.9 minutes. Adams and Enes Kanter (14.5 ppg) have combined to average 26.5 points per game while scoring at a very effective clip. Both Adams (ranks 4th; .596) and Kanter (ranks 7th; .567) rank in the top 10 in NBA field goal shooting percentage. Kanter is one of four players to come off the bench this season and average 14+ points and 6+ rebounds and his Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is currently the 13th best in the NBA. Adams and Kanter have each scored 20 or more in the same game twice this season.

Why Bet on Golden State?

This could be a bit of a letdown game for Golden State after hosting Cleveland in an NBA Finals rematch on Monday and the final meeting between the two this regular season. Durant is the only player in the NBA to be averaging at least 26 points per game while shooting 50 percent or better from the field this season. Only Durant (1.7 bpg) and Anthony Davis (29.1 ppg, 2.5 bpg) are averaging 26 points & 1.6 blocks per game this season. Durant averaged 27.4 points (.483 FG%, .380 3pt%, .882 FT%), 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.2 steals, 1.0 blocks and 37.8 minutes per game in starting all 641 career games he played in nine seasons (2007-08 – 2015-16) with the Thunder franchise. The Warriors have an 12-0 record when preventing an opponent from scoring 100 points this season. Dating back to the 2014-15 campaign, the Warriors have a 79-1 (.988) regular-season record when holding an opponent to fewer than 100 points. The Warriors have an 8-1 record this season when holding their opponent under 40 percent shooting from the field. Golden State has recorded 10 or more steals in 16 games this season, tied with Toronto for the second-most in the NBA. The Warriors are 13-3 this season when recording 10 or more steals in a game. The Warriors have recorded 10 or more blocks in six games this season, all victories. Golden State beat OKC 122-96 on Nov. 3 in Oakland. Durant matched his career high with seven 3-pointers and scored 39 points. Stephen Curry added 21 points and seven assists. Westbrook was just 4- for-15 from the field for 20 points.
