Pacers vs Rockets NBA Betting Odds & Expert Pick for Friday Night

Written by on November 15, 2019

The Indiana Pacers started slowly this season with All-Star guard Victor Oladipo out recovering from injury, but the Pacers are rolling now on a four-game winning streak as they make their lone visit of the season Friday to the Houston Rockets, which is favored on the Mybookie NBA odds.

How to Bet Pacers vs Rockets NBA Odds & Game Info

Series History

The Rockets swept the regular season series last season for the second straight year. Houston’s current 4-game winning streak is tied for its third-longest in series (9 and 5). The Rockets have won 5 of the past 6 at home after losing 4 of 5 from 11/26/08-3/27/13.

Last year, the Rockets outscored the Pacers 106.5 ppg (46.7% FGs) to 98.5 (45.1% FGs). Houston averaged 8.0 more made 3-pointers and outshot Indiana 37.2% to 33.3% from 3-point range. James Harden averaged 34.0 points vs. the Pacers in 2018-19 with 15 assists and 14 turnovers, Victor Oladipo averaged 25.0 points and 8.0 rebounds for Indiana.

Why Bet on Indiana?

The Pacers started 0-3 but are now 7-4 following Tuesday’s 111-85 win over Oklahoma City. TJ Warren scored 11 of his 23 points in the third quarter. He provided the spark needed to put the game out of reach, shooting 5 for 5 from the field in the third quarter and 10 for 14 overall. Indiana outscored OKC 34-20 in the third. Warren is averaging 18.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals this year.

Domantas Sabonis double-doubled in the win with 18 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and one block in 29 minutes. He had his double-double locked up by halftime. Sabonis entered the night as one of two players averaging 20/11 with four dimes along with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Indiana All-Star guard Victor Oladipo hasn’t debuted yet this season off a serious injury but is progressing. Oladipo was able to get through some full-court, 5-on-5 work with the Pacers’ G League team on Tuesday. However, he’ll return to being limited to halfcourt work for another few weeks. Don’t look for him before December.

Big man Myles Turner has been out for two weeks with an ankle injury and won’t play Friday but also is progressing. “He was getting better and he’s just not feeling comfortable enough to play,” Coach Nate McMillan said. “He tried some four-on-four the other day, went through that and he’s feeling OK, but afterward he didn’t feel comfortable enough to play. It’s a day-to-day situation with him.”

Meanwhile, Jeremy Lamb has been limited to light jogging, dribbling and spot shooting as he continues to rehab from his sprained left ankle. He’s not likely to play Frida, either, meaning Aaron Holiday should start again.

Why Bet on Houston?

The Rockets won their fifth in a row Wednesday, 102-93 over the Clippers. James Harden was spectacular with 47 points, six rebounds, seven assists, three steals, six turnovers and seven 3-pointers in 44 minutes. He scored 17 points in the final six minutes of the fourth quarter. He’s leading the NBA at 38.2 points per game. His 149 free throws made are the most ever through a player’s first 11 games of the season.

Russell Westbrook made 6-of-20 from the field for 17 points with two rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in the win. Westbrook somehow picked up four fouls in the first quarter to throw his night off, but the shooting volume was still there. Westbrook has made only five of his past 27 3-pointers.

Clint Capela had 12 points and 20 rebounds before going to the locker room with about 4 1/2 minutes remaining after taking a blow to the face while fighting for a rebound. Capela has had at least 20 rebounds in three straight games to become the first Rocket to do that since Moses Malone in 1982. Capela has been diagnosed with a concussion and has been ruled out for Friday’s game vs. the Pacers. Tyson Chandler will get the start in his place, but P.J. Tucker will play really heavy minutes now.

Injuries

Houston played Wednesday without small forward Danuel House and guard Eric Gordon. House is dealing with a back injury and it’s not though to be overly serious but he will miss this game. Gordon underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery on Wednesday and he’s expected to miss the next six weeks of action. He was a very good player off the bench the past few years but had struggled this season. Austin Rivers will pick up a lot of Gordon’s minutes but Ben McLemore will start again.
