Top NBA Betting Picks Of The Week (Jan. 2nd – Jan. 6th)

Written by on January 2, 2017

When putting together these picks for the week in the NBA, it would be easy to simply go with the top 3 or 4 teams, as they are going to win on a ridiculously regular basis. It’s easy to pick up wins that way, but it’s not going to do much to boost your online betting bankroll. This week, I am going to look at some of the games that figure to be a little closer, as that is where the value is likely to lie. I’m going to pick one game for each weekday, and let’s see if we can get a little extra money in our pockets to get the New Year off to a positive start.

A Closer Look At The Top NBA Betting Picks Of The Week (Jan. 2nd – Jan. 6th)

Charlotte Hornets over the Chicago Bulls – Monday January 2

Let’s get the week started by taking the Charlotte Hornets to beat the Bulls on the road in what should be a close game. Charlotte comes into this one with an 8-8 road record on the season, and while they are just 5-5 overall in their last 10 games, they have done well versus the Bulls in recent years. They beat Chicago 103-91 earlier this season, and have now won 4 of their last 5 against them. I like the Hornets to win by 5 in this one.

Phoenix Suns over Miami Heat – Tuesday January 3

All good things need to come to an end at one time or another, and I believe that Tuesday night is when Miami’s 12-game win streak will over Phoenix will die. These are two pretty bad teams, and both are going through a rather awful streak in their last 10 games, with just 5 combined wins between them. I’m giving Phoenix the home edge here, and hope that it doesn’t come back to bit me.

Orlando Magic over Atlanta Hawks – Wednesday January 4

It has been a rollercoaster ride for the Atlanta Hawk this season, as they went in the tank hard after a positive start. They are moving upwards again, and have won 3-straight coming into this week. That said, they have struggled against Orlando, and have lost 3in a row to the Magic, including a 131-120 thumping in the middle of December. I think Orlando has a good shot at extending their streak to 4 games.

Portland Trail Blazers over LA Lakers – Thursday January 5

I mentioned earlier that all good things eventually come to an end, but there are also situations where the good times keep on rolling. The Portland Trail Blazers have an 8-game win streak over the Lakers going on, and I think they can run it to 9 on Thursday. This is probably the biggest gimme of the picks listed here, and I like Portland to win by 6-9 points.

LA Clippers over the Sacramento Kings – Friday January 6

The Clippers come into this week on a 6-game losing skid, and now find themselves down in the #7 seed, directly above the Sacramento Kings. These two teams will hook up on Friday night, and this may be just the tonic that the Clippers need, since they have won the last 8 times that they have played in Sacramento.
