When you play futures, it’s almost like playing the stock market, as you want to get in at just the right time, as the betting lines for the team that you like right now may end up being the best you are going to get, especially if said team gets on a roll that causes the bookmakers to shorten their NBA title odds. Let’s take a look at who the current favorites are, and what sort of price you can expect to get for them if you were to wager right now.

Golden State Warriors

It’s no real surprise to see the Warriors in as the favorite, as they have been in the last 3 NBA Finals, winning 2 of them, and are once again leading the way in the Western Conference. This is a team that is totally stacked from top to bottom, and even when one of their top guys sits out with an injury, the other big guns just step up and deliver a little more. The Warriors are likely going to remain in this spot until some other team in the West proves that they have what it takes to bring the champions down.

Cleveland Cavaliers

  • NBA Championship Odds: +500
Again, no real surprises here, as the Cavaliers have also been to each of the last 3 NBA Finals. They are not having a great regular season to this point, and they have been particularly poor on the road, but this seems to be the same discussion that we have about them every year at this stage of the season. This team very often looks as though they are bored with the daily grind of the regular season, but they always seem to save their best stuff for when it really matters in the playoffs.

Houston Rockets

  • NBA Championship Odds: +650
The Rockets actually held the top spot in the Western Conference for a little while, but now sit in second behind the Warriors. Houston has been consistently good all season long, but are in a little bit of a slump right now, mostly because they are missing James Harden, who is expected to be out 2-6 weeks with an injury. If you like the Rockets to win it all this season, you may want to hold off on wagering on them, just to see how their odds change if they continue to struggle without their star player.

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are having a fantastic season, and it has to be said that the addition of Kyrie Irving has played a major role in their current success. According to the latest NBA Championship Odds, Boston and Houston are among the top contenders. This is a player who learned what it takes to win during his time in Cleveland, and you know that he would love to be part of a team that finally put an end to the Cavaliers run to the NBA Finals.

San Antonio Spurs

If you are going to talk about consistency in the NBA, you need to talk about the San Antonio Spurs. They have been good for as long as anyone can remember, and they generally always end up in the top 2 or 3 in the Western Conference. They have not been able to get past the Warriors in recent years, and now have the Rockets to contend with, too. Still worth a little wager, though, at this price.
