As we head into the final few weeks of the NBA season, a bit of a split has occurred in the Western Conference. The top 4 teams are starting to get a little bit of separation from the chasing pack, while the group below the top seeds are clawing it out for those final 4 spots. It may be a surprise to many that the Utah Jazz are in the top half of that equation. They were a team that a lot of NBA fans believed would get into the postseason this year, but not necessarily as a team that would have home court advantage in the opening round. There is actually a similar sort of battle going on over in the Eastern Conference, and over there, you have the Detroit Pistons sucked into the battle at the bottom end of the playoff race. The Pistons are in the 7-spot right now, and are clinging bravely to a narrow lead against the teams sitting below the playoff line.
