The North Carolina State Wolf Pack could find themselves as a little bit of a sleeping giant coming into the 2023 season. The Wolf Pack has all the pieces to put it together and be the best team in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Those are big words, with the likes of Clemson and Florida State in the conference, but the Wolf Pack have plenty of talent returning. Let’s take a look as we give you the North Carolina State Wolfpack 2023 Season Betting Guide.
Head Coach Dave Doeren is already in his 11th season as the head coach of the Wolf Pack. He has won 82 games and been to the bowl games 8 times. Brennan Armstrong comes in, and will be the starting quarterback for the Wolf Pack. He will replace Devin Leary, who moved on to finish his career at Kentucky. Fans in Raleigh will likely know Armstrong, as he spent his first five seasons at Virginia, including three as a starter.
Keyon Lesane is the top returning receiver for Armstrong to throw to. He will be joined by Porter Rooks, Julian Gray, and Terrell Timmons Jr. Tight end Trent Pennix was limited a season ago but expects to be a threat on the field.
The running back job is up for grabs. Jordan Houston picked up over 500 yards last year. Demie Sumo-Karngbaye was hurt for much of the season, and Michael Allen is waiting in the wings. Training camp will tell the story of who will get the bulk of the carries.
The defense is going to be one of the toughest in the country. Defensive coordinator Tony Gibson and his guys held teams to under 20 points per game last season. That ranked inside the Top 20, and much of that team returns, including Payton Wilson, the team’s outside linebacker.

Win Total Sits at 6.5
Oddsmakers have put the North Carolina State Wolf Pack win total for the 2023 season at 6.5 wins. The Wolf Pack have two out of three games early on in nonconference they should win; Connecticut and VMI. The middle game is against Notre Dame, and they certainly will be an underdog there, but don’t count them out. After the first three games; a trip to Virginia, a home game against Louisville, and a home game against Marshall. Another block of three games where the Wolf Pack can and should be able to get two wins. That’s 4-2 at the midway point.
A trip to Duke, a home game against Clemson, and a home game against Miami. This is the toughest block of three, and the Wolf Pack will likely be underdogs for at least two of them. Grabbing 1 win here would put them at 5-4 with three games remaining.
A trip to Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, and a home game against North Carolina. Also, a block of three could be challenging. Oddsmakers did a great job at 6.5, but push comes to shove, and we feel the Wolf Pack find 7 wins with this challenging schedule.
Odds to Win Atlantic Coast Conference Title
The North Carolina State Wolf Pack is going to have the experience. This is a team that benefited from the COVID season. But winning the conference title is not something outsiders are expecting. The current odds for them to win the ACC title are the 5th best. The Wolf Pack comes in at +1250.
National Title Chances
If you are feeling frisky, the North Carolina State Wolf Pack is +17000 to win the national title. Now, that would be a fun story!
We hope you enjoyed this look at the North Carolina State Wolf Pack for 2023. It will be an interesting season in Raleigh, with some exciting games at Carter Finley Stadium. It’s tough to project, not knowing everything yet, but the Wolf Pack has sneaky potential to be a problem in the ACC.
